****Official 2013-14 Missouri Tiger Football Repository Thread****

We have two things to look forward to this year:

1) The potential beginning of the Maty Mauk Era. Mauk represents the best chance for this program to get back to a level of respectability after horrendous QB play cost us multiple games last year.

2) The last year of the Gary Pinkel era. Pinkel's entrenched cronyism won't play in a conference this competitive, especially if he couples his abysmal gameday coaching with lackadaisical, worst-in-conference recruiting. Pinkel was the formerly adequate meal that has now turned into a four pound bowel obstruction. It's time to jam a Fleet's enema up our collective asses.

Here is the schedule. We dodge Alabama, LSU, and Arkansas in the west and the Non-con is decidedly weaker than years past.

8/31: Murray State
9/7: Toledo
9/21: @ Indiana
9/28: Arkansas State
10/5:@ Vanderbilt
10/12: @ Georgia
10/19:Florida
10/26: South Carolina
11/2:Tennessee
11/9: @ Kentucky
11/23: @ Ole Miss
11/30: aTm

Looks like 6-6. Undefeated in non-con, 2-6 in league play.

I will eventually update the OP with a list of high profile in-state recruits that decide to go elsewhere after a half-assed attempt to gain their services. The inevitable cavalcade of *** rejects, skeezers, skanks, and scalliwags we get will fill out the ranks.

Razors, cyanide capsules, and Jonestown Kool-Aid are available in the break room. Second door on the left.

Since every Mizzou thread eventually dies of AIDS, I recommend starting anti-retroviral therapy immediately. I believe Walgreens covers Express Scripts.

Premium In-State Players:

Roderick Johnson: **** OT, Florissant, MO.
Monte Harrison: **** WR, Lee's Summit, MO.
Jimmy Swain: **** LB, Lee's Summit, MO

Commitment List: From to and possibly

Spoiler!

Ohio State (11-0) vs. Michigan (7-4)
Clemson (10-1) vs. South Carolina (9-2)

I would think losses by any of the group of Auburn, Ohio State, and Clemson would be beneficial for our BCS bowl picture.

Also, with the Sugar Bowl being the SEC #1 vs a BCS at large would we get that SEC spot as the SEC #1 with Alabama being in the National Championship game?
Even if Ohio State doesn't lose, a one-loss Mizzou team that finished the season beating ranked Ole Miss, TAMU, and Alabama would be hard to deny for a BCS championship game. Mizzou's computer numbers should blow away Ohio State's at that point.

If Auburn and Clemson lose next week, Mizzou would be no worse than #4 provided they beat TAMU. If Mizzou goes on to beat Alabama? How do they only go from #4 to #3? I have to believe that Mizzou would jump to #2 in that scenario.

As for the Sugar Bowl, that's probably going to be Auburn if Mizzou loses against TAMU. If Mizzou's second loss occurs in Atlanta, then the Sugar Bowl's decision between Mizzou and Auburn gets more complicated.

Until I see us get picked over another team in that situation (11-2 MU vs. 10-2 Auburn) I'm going to assume we aren't getting the Sugar Bowl.

If Mizzou wants the Sugar Bowl than we should hope that Alabama mercilessly destroys Auburn next week, and that Alabama merely beats Mizzou by two scores.

That is the only scenario for MU that gives them the Sugar Bowl....if MU wants the National stage they just need to take care of aTm, and go to Atlanta with the intent to beat Bama or keep the game close.

Another scenario.....MU beats aTm and Auburn beats Bama. MU and Auburn play and MU wins...that puts them in NCG. But if MU loses the CCG to Auburn, it's a pretty good bet that Auburn gets the NCG and Bama gets the Sugar Bowl game.

For MU that loss to SC will continue to haunt us....3 inches to the right

This season, no matter how good it is and still will be, is going to be remembered as one of the biggest 'what if' seasons in school history.

So since the Sugar Bowl is the SEC #1 team, if we beat A&M but lose to Alabama would we not automatically get the spot since we would be the runner up in the SEC and Alabama would be in the 'ship? Or does it not work that way?

It's always hard to tell on TV because they can make it sound really loud or minimize it no matter how many people are there. But Gary Pinkle made it a point to talk about the great fan turnout in his post game comments so you must have been doing something right.

Maybe not... it all comes back to winning the SEC title game. I'm not convinced Missouri can beat Alabama in that game - in fact, I'd predict it doesn't.

But I think we see Missouri at either No. 5 or No. 6 in the BCS standings today, with a slim margin either way. Win next week vs. aTm, and I think they jump Clemson regardless. Either Auburn or Alabama is going to lose and fall below Mizzou (likely).

I don't see a way 11-1 Mizzou is less than 4th in the BCS at this time next week. Beat Alabama, and I think they've got a good shot to get into the No. 2 spot.

Of course, Michigan State could just help Mizzou out and knock off Ohio State in the B1G championship game and remove any debate.

Odds of beating the Aggies next week, though? It just seems like what A&M does well is exactly what the Mizzou defense cannot stop, no matter how telegraphed.

Basically Mizzou needs

1. Mizzou beats aTm
2. Auburn to lose to Alabama
3. tOSU lose to either Michigan or Michigan State
4. SC beat Clemson
5. Mizzou beat Alabama in the SECCG

I don't see FSU losing to anyone left on their schedule as long as they don't lose Winston. Basically if the above scenarios happen (the top 3 are highly possible, the 4th, not so much), Missouri could end up in the BCS championship game. They could probably get a BCS game if the above happens and they are at least competitive against Alabama.

Missouri would ABSOLUTELY jump Clemson if it wins out, even if South Carolina loses to them.

They won't jump Florida State. Will have to see the standings today to see how far they'd have to go to jump undefeated Ohio State.

We should be 6 when it comes out today, so assuming Auburn and Clemson lose and we beat aTm, we should be 4 going into the SECCG.

Hard to see us NOT jumping tOSU with a win over Bama. Which is unlikely, but if we're 4 going into the SECCG, and lose to Bama, we should still finish above Auburn in the BCS (assuming they fall to 9 or 10 after a loss to Bama next weekend).

AP Poll just came out and MU jumped to #5 ahead of Clemson.

1) Alabama (56)
2) Florida St. (4)
3) Ohio St.
