Im sure most of you have seen this in the news but if not it cant hurt to post it in case anybody here might of seen something.

Missing woman reward now $20,000

Investigators today are going through sex offender registries and have found dozens who live in this area. They also are following leads that come in and continue to look for a person of interest who was seen at the store about the same time as Kelsey Smith.

Smith, a recent Shawnee Mission West High School graduate, has been missing since Saturday evening when she didn’t return home from running an errand at the Target at 97th Street and Quivira Road. Enhanced surveillance video shows someone running up behind Kelsey as she was getting in her car. The individual pushed Kelsey inside.

Smith’s family announced today that a reward for information in the case has been increased to $20,000 through donations.

As investigators keep up with leads in the case, her parents are making the rounds with the national media today.

The goal, said dad Greg Smith, is to make sure everyone knows his daughter is still out there somewhere.

“Anybody that will let me get on the air and put my daughter’s face out there, that’s great,” Smith said this morning. “Someone knows something.”

Friends are canvassing the area around Target and the Oak Park Mall with fliers again today, wanting to saturate Johnson County with pictures of Kelsey.

Greg Smith said the enhanced surveillance video only confirms what family has thought from the beginning.

“From the moment we heard her car turned west instead of east, I knew somebody had her,” Smith said, referring to tape that shows Kelsey’s car turning left out of Target. If she were headed home she would have turned right.

Smith said the family is even more determined to find his daughter and keep her face and name in the news.

“We’re going to bring you home Kelsey,” he said. “We’re bringing you home, baby.”

Police say they have a suspect and that he lives within 2 miles of the location. He reportedly has a past criminal history. Anyone with information regarding the case is being asked to call the Tips Hotline at 816-474-TIPS, or (913)327-5638.

He should be easy to find. Of the 2 miles around that area, at least 80% is lake and woods.map

There was something weird reported earlier. A black truck matching the description of the person of interest happens to be sitting in the Target parking lot in front of all these searchers. The cops were looking over the truck and havent said much more.

Strange. I have heard of suspects taking part in searches before.

Man..she is from a family of 5 kids...four girls and one boy. Hits too close to home with me. We live near the Target, shop there frequently, my oldest daughter works at OP Mall.....

This is just terrible.

Good question. I guess I was hoping they were referring to the lake. Skinny white kids within 2 miles of OP mall are pretty common.
