Why the loyalty?

It is pretty indiputable that the Jets players were/are very loyal to Herm Edwards. There is also a lot of evidence that Herm Edwards has made a lot of questionable decisions - whether it be naming and sticking with Hackett or the kneel and field goal against Pitt.

Why are the players loyal to the guy, especially if he mismanages so many things? I hate to say it, but, does he get some slack because he's black and the players relate to him?

He is a former player, is relatively young, and he does win football games. They went to the playoffs 3 of 4 years.
