Mizzou got totally killed at Florida. Probably their worst game of the year.
I just don't see how they'll do anything in the NCAA with their road record.

It's all going to depend on Phil. They go as Phil goes.

I thoroughly enjoyed tonight.

I do think we are exiting the NCAA's early but it isn't b/c we can't win on the road. NCAA's are neutral site games and we've done fine there this year. Our perimeter defense which has been consistently sub par will do us in the first time we run into a team that can make shots.

4) Lots of bad shots
5) 3-happy on the road

Portis and Kingsley will help, but even when Anderson had DeMarre Carroll and Leo Lyons in the middle, they gave up a ton of offensive rebounds and struggled to score in the half-court, especially on the road.
We'll see. Arkansas is pretty convinced that we'll catch the Nolan lightning in a bottle again. I'm skeptical, but I think we'll have better basketball than we've experienced here since Nolan left.

I'm not calling this a CMA team, because our players are not his players. If we're still this bad in two years, it's a failure.

The road record is troubling, no doubt. But playing at neutral sites is a little different than playing on the road. Missouri's neutral site record is respectable (3-1, with wins against quality VCU and Illinois teams).

They've also been playing well in most of those road losses. The early blowouts to Ole Miss and Florida have not continued.

Pressey's play will indeed be the key, though. I think Missouri could end up being a lot like Florida a season ago... the 7 seed that No. 2 wants to see in its bracket.

The two things that travel best in college hoops are defense and an ability to score inside/at the FT stripe (the two are one). Missouri has the latter. They have flashed the former (like we saw during the key run that blew this game out).

I do like that this team is less dependent on 3-point shooting

That was far and away their worst game.

Let's not act like tournament games are road games. They just aren't. I'll be disappointed with anything less than a Sweet 16 appearance. This team has all the parts to be special.

But first... go win at UT.

Soem of those losses came when we had significant players benched with injuries as well.

Isn't Pelphrey from the same tree? I know he's with Donovan now.

I saw an awful lot of guys that look like Mike Anderson players out there. Powell is very similar in skill set to DeMarre Carroll (though he doesn't have the drive/desire). Clarke and Qualls looks like typical Mike Anderson Fs (long, lean, athletic). The guards all fit (quick, ball hawkers).

Anyway, the things I talked about above are symptoms that we saw AFTER Anderson got his own players there. They actually showed up worse AFTER the last Quin holdovers (Lyons, Matt Lawrence) were gone.

He never lucked into a McDonald's AA big man who was a diehard Mizzou fan while he was in Columbia (Portis), though, so that might change things a bit.

There is no question to me that this team is very talented.

Frankly it is about defensive effort. I think you (or somebody else but I think it was you) referenced that replying to something I posted a few days ago and you are right as far as that being the cause for our issues. They are capable of D'g people up they just don't most of the time. They got after it tonight. They got after it the last half of the 2nd half against Florida at home in particular. Unfortunately much of the rest of the season they haven't brought it so it's hard to be optimistic about them bringing it consistently here on out.

Pressey needs to play within himself and do a better job playing through contact on both ends of the floor IMO.

That will be tough. They've been playing well at home (though they do have a couple of head-scratching home losses).

Jordan McCrae has been playing at a high level, and Jarnell Stokes is a strong post player.

If they can win that one, it would be a nice statement to close the season and ride into the SEC tournament (at this point, if Ole Miss holds on vs. Bama, winning at UT would take them into the no. 2 seed if I remember correctly).

The good thing about this team is we are healthy and I think the team is starting to come together from a chemistry standpoint. Bell has taken on a bigger role in the offense and since he has done that this team has beasted in the paint.

I didn't get to watch the UK game but have been told by a few that we got royally ****ed the entire game. We know the road game against Ark was ours until the 6-8th players for Ark got involved. I know that means little for seeding but hopefully it means we are better than our record shows.

UT has been good recently especially at home. We haven't beaten anybody near as good as they are on the road and that is saying something considering they are just a middling type of team.

Agreed.

I HOPE these guys can buy in and realize the season is almost over and the only way they do something noteworthy now is by all buying in on the defensive end. If they can do that, this team still has a ton of upside.

I don't EXPECT that, though.

I'll take this one tonight. Sweet to beat the day living crap out of Suitcase Mike.
I feel like a KU fan, I wish we would have beat him worse.

We may see the beginning of a rivalry with the Soo Pigs.
After all they have "Kansas" in their name.

Seems like an easy thing for a coach, though... "Look what happened when you played D like this... and look what happened when you played D like that"

"You wanna win games in this tourney... play D like that."
