Why people laugh at Creationists

Taking a lead from Killer Clown I thought I'd create a alternative thread to post some videos I like...

[EDIT New video here]

So on with the show:

Here's the Kent Hovind Theory:

"Do not believe in anything simply because you have heard it.
Do not believe in anything simply because it is spoken and rumored by many.
Do not believe in anything simply because it is found written in your religious books.
Do not believe in anything merely on the authority of your teachers and elders.
Do not believe in traditions simply because they have been handed down for many generations.
But after observation and analysis, when you find that anything agrees with reason and is conducive to the good and benefit of one and all, then accept it and live up to it."

I try not to bite of more than I can chew when it comes to interpreting the Old Testament. I just started digging into this thread and would like to point out writing from antiquity is as complext as creation itself . Anyone here watch TED on you tube ? Anyone here seen videos about the granite contruction that is attributed to the Kamites in Egypt ? Anyone seen the the underground chambers on the Giza Platue that point to the Great Pyramid as power source along the lines of Tesla's ideas and creations ? The bible doesnt really translate into fast food English notions of reality. The English bible known as the KJV accomplished more or less the same thing the Vulgate did for the Spanish , it was a language and translation for assimilation of other peoples and toungues and their resources.
The Bible is intriguing from a sociological point of view. Regardless of your beliefs it is an ancient text using metaphors, allegory and parables.

Actually, especially the Old Testament is god being more sociopath than sociological.

I saw your post about Franklin and Deism . Franklin was a mixed bag and there is far more to the Illuminati , Freemasonry and the Hell Fire club than what they are excused for as being . They do about a good job justifying these fraternal orgainization's philosophies and rituals as Robert Plant does claiming Page wasnt a black magician and that they werent all involved in Satanic practices. It all goes back to Azazel and Mount Herman and Egypt and Enoch . We can excuse this all as being symbolic narrative that doesnt relate to the reality in 3 dimensions but it is clear there was a deluge and that there was a globally oriented adanced society that existed long ago . Of course we wont see Nova presenting history this way but then again look who funds it. There is no denying what science as we know it was founded upon yet modern phsycists shamlessly brand Newton as a myscitcal kook. They should be so gifted. Newton absorbed Latin Greek and Hebrew like a sponge.

The following is a snippet from Swan's Commentary site

When a child acquires language that child also acquires cultural meaning, gains access to an epistemology and way to code and decode secrets, to posit and solve mysteries, to create and justly administer laws, and to a receive vision, then record and safeguard the myth.

I don't disagree with you concerning the unique impact of language, but I do question the existence of an ancient global society. The logistics of maintenance would appear almost impossible. There is a concept of "multiple discovery" in science, where people or groups of people acting independently in geographically disparate locations achieve similar breakthroughs in advanced fields. I've found examples of this across the spectrum of human endeavor.

I don't know. A flute, at its heart, is a very simple instrument. It requires only rough tools and raw materials for construction and can be played in a very primitive style. I could see it being manufactured in a wide variety of geographies. Also star based building construction is based on something that every human has access too; their local night sky. The (virtually) same constellations can be seen over vast distances so it would pretty easy for buildings to share common characteristics among multiple societies. I tend to regard the story of Babylon as a cautionary tale, both explaining why we have different languages and warning against attempting to achieve enlightenment without "paying for it."

Other than that; the same stories have been told over and over, again and again, throughout our history. They borrow from each other and from previous iterations. You also have to be careful not to go too far down the rabbit hole. Math and music (which are the same) don't have an ending.

I see a huge divide between translation and what one gets by simply trying to figure out what it all means . But when it comes to the OT its alot easier and yet I dont know many people who grab the keys and open the doors. The OT cannon was built to chant in a cyclical manner and the NT simply adds to the affair. Without verbally pronouncing the stuff in cantillated style over and over , its kinda hard to experience it with the senses the way it is meant to be consumed and assimilated . I gotta a bunch of sawdust to make still and then clean shop.
OK, thanks for the discussion and have a nice day. I have some leftover polenta that I want to pan fry and I'm getting hungry. See you around.

Back to the goofy shit:

Most holy water contaminated with fecal matter: study

Austrian researchers have discovered that church fonts contain very high levels of bacteria and a majority of water samples from holy sources contain fecal matter.

Experts from the Institute of Hygiene and Applied Immunology at the Medical University of Vienna analyzed the water in 21 holy springs in Austria and in 18 fonts in Vienna at various times during the year, the Daily Mail reported.

They found that 86 percent of water samples from holy sources contain fecal matter, and every milliliter of holy water contained up to 62 million bacteria, none of it safe to drink.

Not surprisingly, the busier the church, the more bacteria it had in its font from people’s hands.

In addition to E. coli bacteria and enterococci, the holy springs contained Campylobacter, which can cause inflammatory diarrhea, the Mail reported. Nitrates from agriculture also made the water unsafe for drinking.

“We need to warn people against drinking from these sources,” said Alexander Kirschner, a microbiologist at the Medical University of Vienna.

He recommends changing the holy water often and adding salt to the fonts to reduce the chance of bacteria thriving, the Mail reported.

While still funny, fecal contamination is more common than most would like to think. Every time you flush a toilet, for example, fecal matter becomes airborne.

Just look at Darwin and Alfred Russell Wallace. They came to identical conclusions while half a world apart.
