HBO has given the production order.

They will be filming the pilot episode of A GAME OF THRONES.

It's just the pilot so far. They'll need to see that before they decide whether to proceed with a full season's episodes. So let's all hope the pilot will kick serious ass.

It should. David Benioff and Dan Weiss did a terrific job with the script. And yes, all of you can relax, it's very faithful. Dan and David will be the executive producers for the pilot and (we hope) the eventual series.

More details when I have 'em. The news is very fresh. HBO just issued their own press release, which should be up on their website soon, if it's not there already.

Winter is coming to HBO. Hot damn.

I don't buy the Bran-into-dragon theory, in light of Dance with Dragons. It looks to me like Bran's role is going to be a little different. I just can't see him being one of the "heads" of the dragon.

Obviously, Dany is one of them. I'm assuming she will bitch-slap Victarion down and take the horn from him. Actually, I think Barristan Selmy will kill Victarion to do this, probably losing his own life in the process. It gives Selmy the honorable finish he deserves/wants (Barristan the Bold simply cannot die in his sleep). And it also prevents him from seeing Dany on the throne/getting the satisfaction of seeing things set right (classic George R.R. Martin end for a character - no 100 percent happy endings).

I think Jon Snow is another. Why does Rhaegar think one of the heads needs the blood of the North/Starks? Could it be for the Stark's First Men blood, blood that carries with it a strong tendency towards warg abilities?

As for the third, I suppose you could make a case for Aegon (though I think he is the 'false dragon').

I like the Tyrion speculation. Especially if he is the product of King Aerys Targaryen and Joanna Lannister, as some wildly speculate. Not sure it happens, or if he just spends time in a advisory role to Dany.

I assume Dany unchains her dragons but since she's saying she can't control them, it'd make sense that wargs could control them, with three wargs being Bran, Jon, and Arya.

Again, me only being halfway through, something may happen which will make that thought a but an offering for the lord of light's flames.

When Bran was warged into the wolf then segued to him, Hodor, and the wildling woman all walking to the weirwood pool. They made a very big deal of him being without legs and dragging himself to the pool. As they talked about the comet, the wildling woman (damn, I can never remember her name) said that the comet symbolizes dragons. This seemed to foreshadow, to me at least, that Bran would warg into a dragon one day.

Appropo of probably nothing I noticed that part and thought in the book it is Hodor's mom who tells Bran the comet means Dragons. The wildling woman says it means something like blood and fire IIRC.
