Zenger on 810 this morning... basically said that the program is bare. Weis is left with a complete rebuild job from the bottom up. Interestingly enough he commented on the Leach speculation. Basically said KU had no real shot of landing him. Leach didn't really want to be in the same conference as Tech amongst other reasons, including WSU was in a better state than KU's team.

The guy is more honest than I would be in that situation.

Jesus Christ, what he did to this program is down right criminal. I cannot believe he's making $10 million off us.
Didn't he kinda preach 'personal accountability'?

So maybe he just let 'em do their own thing. It appears his approach was to try to teach them the correct path and convince them that he trusts them to do the right thing.

Y'know what? Turner Gill sounds like a new-age parent. Y'know the type, the Dr. Spock sandal-wearers that believe raising your voice to a child breeds violence or something. (Must. not. make. Lawrence. joke....trying. not. to. troll....)

Seems like hippy paternalism has failed pretty mightily here. Sometimes an ass-kicking is in order, Turner.

No kidding. I'm beyond disgusted. Hell, my parents took a lot of the decision making away from me around that time of my life. I don't care how much "trust" they had in me. Cause i was gonna do some pretty dumb stuff had they not.

Well, the hire got done in like a day so I highly doubt it. I'm sure Zenger reassured him that he will have plenty of time to right the ship and that he's only looking for incremental improvements each year.

I'm not sure I'd be any less honest. Let's face it, the program IS bare. Tempering expectations is good. Given that "It's a process." is already taken by a local team, he can't use that. But people excited about Weis shouldn't be expecting BCS bowls any time soon.

I'm not much of a bullshitter, but I can see where a little honesty goes a long way. Particularly since the only thing we've had to talk about the last few weeks is speculation.

Unfortunately, that is precisely why Gill was hired. We were saddled with this bag of rabid rat shit because Mangino was "mean". As blatantly dumb as it is, IMO KU did what every other program does, is go to the polar opposite, when some moderation is usually the correct answer. Although most teams go from offense to defense. KU goes from "mean" to soft bitch.

That whole series of events just makes me ****ing sick.

I'm kind of "Meh" about the Weis hire. I guess I'm in "Wait and see" mode before making a decision on whether it was a good, or bad hire. But, I continue to hear from people that it's a bad hire - which it could be. I'd like someone, MU/KU/KSU fans, to tell me why I should hate the hire....or why I should love the hire.

Not a "he sucks because he went to KU" logic....actual reasons that you think it was a shitty or good hire.
