Here's an interesting google map showing Chicago murders by location in the city.

Heh. Certainly there are a few problem areas that account for the lion's share of the violence (Garfield Park, Back of the Yards, Englewood) but yeah, our little thuglets do appear to be branching out a bit.

It certainly sucks that kids are getting killed but the whole Chicago gun violence is somewhat overrated. First of all if you look at the article it's a lot of 15-18 year-olds not 5-10 aged kids. Second, it's mostly gangsters killing gangsters, or people involved in the drug trade, who cares about that? let them kill each other they knew the risks.

You're not accounting for the shot and wounded though. So far in 2017 someone gets shot in Chicago every 2 hours and 18 minutes. These people don't square off in a dual, they fire into crowds. They fire from moving vehicles. The number of people that get hit by stray bullets here is staggering. I mean, there's been 127 people shot just in the ass already this year. That's like one person every 2 days taking a bullet to the ass while trying to go about their day. I'm not worried about someone intentionally trying to murder me in Chicago, but I damn sure realize that I could get shot at any moment walking outside my door. Whether I'm walking to the store, driving down the Kennedy, anywhere in Chicago.

I live in the burbs and commute by Metra. Outside of the odd live event (sports, theater, etc.) I essentially don't venture into Chicago for any reason other than a paycheck, and being able to work from home has all but eliminated the need to ever be down here late at night or on the weekends. As it stands right now, barring any major unforeseen events, the Loop is pretty safe. Biggest concerns here, which really aren't that big, are either the prospect of terrorist attacks at the train station or a protest that turns into a riot. I work right between the Daley Center, the Thompson Center and City Hall, so I am pretty much at ground zero for the freeshitters.

The only time I'm in a bad area is when my train is going through the west side, but as far as I know they haven't taken any pot shots at the commuter trains.

I saw last week, I think, where someone fired into a red line train at the Jackson stop. I live in Bucktown and can't throw a football without hitting a mom pushing a stroller or a coffee shop, but it doesn't matter. There's shitty pockets in every neighborhood around here. But without the amenities of being inside Chicago, I wouldn't live anywhere in Illinois. That said, I believe we're out next year. I can't live with another property tax hike to fund some shitty pension.

I can find pretty much anything I care about in the burbs that they have in the city. Outside of the whole being in Illinois thing, I like where I live very much.
The commute sucks, but I'd never live in Chicago again. It's bad enough that I work here.

It's too bad you can't advocate for for more accountability in the black community regarding black on black crime while also wanting statues of CSA leaders taken down.

It's too bad you can't be expected to be mature enough to get over your fear of statues, or to get past the stupid idea that a statue of someone who's been dead for over 100 years is somehow problematic for the country of today.

Could you show me all the pictures of you at the rallies demanding the U.S. re-subjugate itself to Britain?

So your deep understanding of history is why you think we should celebrate traitors?

Give me the reason then. Why should traitors get tattoos celebrating them? If it's purely the history aspect then a lot more people need statues including Osama. I mean he's a big part of American history right? What if people forget him?!?! Those who don't know their history are doomed to repeat it ya know.

Aren't those the lines you guys use to justify the statues?
