Have you ever had Aflac?

Have you ever had Aflac, or known anyone who has Aflac? I have a chance to get it through my work, and I have no idea if it is worth it, so any info would be appreciated.

Thank you

I've never used them, but I don't think they are very good.

I work for a major medical company and we do not contract with them at all.

Dude medicinal marijuana distribution at a head shop is not working for a "major medical company".

One of my former employers offered it, and they were extremely pushy about it. They insisted I meet with some lady from there and listen to her pitch. I kept dragging my feet hoping they'd give up but they were relentless about it. Made me wonder what was in it for them if I enrolled in it.

My mom had a cancer policy through her work and was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer this past January. They have had to keep pressing them (as I'm sure you have to do with most insurance companies) but the checks keep coming in. Make sure to read the policy closely as their are a lot of loopholes (ie, reimbursements for driving milage only count when the "insured" is in the car, certain types of procedures aren't covered, etc.) Overall they're pretty happy with it.

AFLAC isn't even technically insurance. It's a TERRIBLE product, but they are very good about paying claims. With as much as they overcharge for their plans, they can afford to pay claims without batting an eye.

Interesting comments. I have a dental and a cancer policy. Never used the cancer but have had to use the dental a lot. Since my employer based insurance doesn't cover dental it has come in pretty handy. I pay $12.25 per week for both policies.

My six month dental visit costs me $120 and and I have a check within one week for $75. My last root canal was $975 and I got a check within one week for $400.

When I had a car accident this policy more than paid for itself. Because it is not insurance but rather supplemental insurance it didn't matter that my auto policy covered much of my repairs. AFLAC still paid out over a thousand dollars directly to me.

Even though my auto insurance weaseled out of a lot of what they were obligated to pay beacuse they wouldn't pay the amount charged, I still came out a little ahead because of AFLAC.

My experience is that they don't dicker around, they just pay and pay quickly. For me, the investment versus return has been good. I would recommend it.
