If not #1, where?

The draftniks keep saying that Geno Smith isn't worth the #1 pick.
None of them say he isn't the top QB in the class though.
If we don't take him at #1 how far is he realistically going to fall?

I see no scenario where he falls out of the Top 10.

So if he's the top QB in a weak class...
QB is our biggest need...
And he's gonna go Top 10 anyway...

Why not at #1?

Am I wrong to say he won't fall out of the Top 10?

Discuss...

The more I read about our new coach, and seeing the QB's for the draft, I think he will wait until the second or third round to address drafting a QB. Geno should be gone by then as we'll as Wilson, if not they may be the pick. Most probably,it would be Ryan Nassib or Zac Dysert, in the third. Both look to be the type of QB Ried would like to build a team around. Of course, that would probably mean he has pulled off a trade for a starting QB for next year, such as Alex Smith,Kevin Kolb, or someone like that he thinks is serviceable for a year until the youngster is ready. Just my opinion,,,

I agree. When it comes to the most important position on the field you want to wait and grab lower level talent for value.

I already hate our staff until I see what they do with the QB position.
After many years of giving this franchise and it's coaching staff the benefit of the doubt, I'm sick of doing that. This regime is going to have to show me it cares before I do.

This year, I'm going into the season backwards. Much pessimism and hoping for the better instead of optimism and seeing the worse.

I'd like to know what makes people think they won't take a QB first. Because of some interviews or talk radio guys? the Chiefs guys are giving lip service and the radio guys don't know shit. Both these guys are from teams that had their best success with 1st round QB's.

I think the new Chiefs FO knows they need to find a QB. But, nothing they've said gives me confidence that they will take a QB with the first pick. Dorsey isn't coming into this blind. He probably already has very strong opinions on the QBs in this class and there's no reason not to pimp them if you like them. But he's come out and said that he's not going to reach, over and over and over.

Things change over time and he may be waiting to interview them, but at this moment in time it's not looking promising.

Which in reality means nothing, he can take whoever he wants and say "he was the top guy on the board".

Not to mention everything will change by the draft for all we know Matt Barkley might be #1 by everyone by then, no one really knows.

Exactly. And there's no guarantee it's a QB.

This isn't 2012 when everybody knew by 2010 who the #1 pick was going to be.

in 1998 the Eagles drafted their LT with the 11th pick in the draft, he started for 10 years and played in 3 pro bowls

the next year in 1999 Reid (Reid's 1st) picked McNabb with the 2nd pick

in 2000 Reid went out in FA and got the RT Jon Runyan, he played 9 years and made the Pro Bowl

Reid will value these 3 positions 1st, pretty normal especially for a pass oriented offensive minded coach

The Chiefs signed Eric Winston last year and can re-sign or tag Brandon Albert. They also have a couple of recently-drafted tackles. They don't need to spend the pick there.
