Game of Thrones (spoiler-free zone)
A few have suggested it, might as well test the waters. The idea is to give people who haven't read the books a safe place to talk about the show.

A few quick ground rules:
  • No Spoilers!!!!! for upcoming episodes.
  • Larger Song of Ice and Fire discussion should be limited to the other thread although I think a tiny bit of book delving to fill in holes should be okay (example of this would be talking about Catelyn and her treatment of the wolves in the novel, which was alluded to on TV but never really made clear...)
  • Everything that happened that week is fair game once an episode airs. So if you don't watch on Sunday night, I'd stay outta here until you do...

I agree. The Targaryens inbred, and they're who the Lannisters aspire to be in some ways. Plus, it serves his ends of bringing the Lannister house to primacy without the Baratheon corruption.

I doubt it would be his first choice, but I don't think he's that ethically opposed to it either and may even see some upside to it.

I get your complaint. Someone asked whether she knew the language or not. I responded because it was not a secret in the books. They openly talked about her and Jorah knowing the language before they even started negotiations for the unsullied. HBO is the one that decided to make it a grand unveiling so to speak right before she double crossed the slave masters. I already apologized and started putting spoiler tags on the most mundane tedbits of information. There was no malicious intent to spoil things for non readers. The great thing about Martin's story is that you never really know what is going to happen next and I wouldn't want to ruin that for anybody.

I am having a hell of a time right now because my roommate INSISTS on waiting until the end of the season and watching all the episodes back to back. Even though he is into book 4, I don't want to tell him any of what happened in a particular episode.

This last one was particularly bad, with all it's awesomeness I simply had to tell him "wait till you see this one" and left it at that.

It's tough though.
