Peter Frampton's "Sgt. Peppers"" How is this not the greatest cult classic ever?

I saw this movie when it was in the theater back in 1978, but I don't think I could appreciate it in the moment. Looking back now, this movie has everything a cult classic could want: good music, bad lip-synching, cool band costumes, a kung fu fight between the BeeGees and some evil nurses, sexy girl scout uniforms, Aerosmith as the villain, and that finale! Wow, that finale! It's a group song that has everybody who is anybody in it: Bowser of Sha Na Na, David Bowie, Hank Williams, Jr., Bonnie Raitt, Carol Channing, Heart, and the list goes on and on. I keep trying to find a young Nils Lofgren before he became Springsteen's guitarist, but I don't see him, and supposedly Paul McCartney and George Harrison are in the crowd as well. And who was the albino dude in there? He looks like I should know him.

This movie blows away The Rocky Horror Picture Show.

No! No! Best cult movie ever! Steve Martin plays an evil singing doctor, just like he plays an evil singing dentist in "Little Shop of Horrors"! None of the actors ever talk! The only spoken lines are by George Burns!

This movie is pure genius.

I agree it's a cult classic.

After watching it, I wanted to drink poison Kool-Aid, like the rest of the Jim Jones clan.

Sucks eggs. In the same class as 'Can't Stop the Music' and Kiss Meets the Phantom of the Park'. Truly HORRIBLE.

Is this thing even available on DVD?? I saw it once back on the old UHF Channel 41 back in the early 1980's and havent seen it since....

It would make a nice double bill with the Olivia Newton John classic "Xanadu"

I thought it was crap when I first saw it in 78, and I watched it again several months ago and it's still crap. Embarrassingly bad.

Except for Aerosmith's performance. They were the only good thing in that turd.

And I'm someone who loves kitsch and cheese.
