NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports free agent ILB Navorro Bowman is expected to sign with a new team "no later than Monday."

It is not a surprise considering the 49ers said several teams were interested in a trade before they decided to release the linebacker on Friday. The Raiders and Patriots are two contenders who could use some help at linebacker.

A 1-year rental is what we do have money to spend on. We have a little under 5 million to spend this year. We should be all over this if Bowman is willing to sign a 1-year deal and then hit free agency next year.

The Chiefs have $3.5 million in cap space and I seriously doubt they blow it on one player.

I've said this before but no one's either listening nor paying attention: Chiefs are running so much nickel and dime that the MIKE has been on the field for about 30% of the snaps, whether it's been Ragland, KPL or Wilson.

Halfbrain has been ragging on Wilson and Ragland but has failed to mention that even Derrick Johnson's numbers are way down. Johnson has only 15 tackles this season, averaging 3 tackles a game.

The Chiefs just don't value ILBers in this scheme but if Ragland can become a 3 down backer, it'll free Sutton up to use Sorenson more creatively.

Shut the **** up, Spiller.

Have you made mention of DJ's numbers? No.

Have you ragged on Ragland and Wilson? Yes.

Case closed, Halfbrain.

I wonder if they would like to play another ILB more but they don't trust anyone yet or it's by choice they play nickel so much?

Either way it works though

I didn't "throw a fit". I said that expecting him to be the DJ of old in training camp was expecting too much.

And for the record, he has not even been close this year to DJ of 2016, let alone, 2015.

DJ's numbers are down because he's significantly slower and less explosive than in years past. Still has good instincts but seems to be a step or two behind on most plays, particularly in pass coverage. He also can't run sideline to sideline anymore.

You're lying to yourselves if you don't see that during game days. He's an average, at best, ILB right now and that, sadly, is the best we've got.
