Geno Smith fans roll call

NEW THREAD HEADER (11/17/12):

The list is gone. We will all be Geno Smith fans when he gets drafted by the Chiefs. For historical documentation's sake, I'll keep the list in a separate post on this thread: http://www.chiefsplanet.com/BB/showp...postcount=3314

WHY GENO SMITH?
If you're wondering if Geno Smith is right for you, check out this brilliant post by Saccopoo:

http://www.chiefsplanet.com/BB/showp...postcount=5388

Next, we have a few GIFs you may be interested in from the Oklahoma game. Insane potential. These are the elite throws that very few QBs can make. What more can I say? Geno Smith can be a franchise QB in the NFL, and the Chiefs need to take a shot on him.

GIF #1:
Spoiler!

GIF #2:
Spoiler!

GIF #3 (My favorite):
Spoiler!

HOW DO WE GET HIM HERE?

Glad you asked. I posted this checklist earlier. It probably belongs in the thread header, and will be updated as the Chiefs close out their season and start a new chapter in their franchise story.

Preparing for Geno Smith's Arrival In KC Checklist

1. [X] Lose games and acquire the #1 overall pick
2. [X] Get Pioli and the Patriot Way cronies the **** out
3. [X] Hire new GM/coach

OPTIONAL (but highly recommended):
4. [ ] Re-sign/tag Bowe, who really wants to play in KC with Geno
5. [ ] Re-sign/tag Albert

Exactly. The draft is not a game where you try to guess what the "real slotting" for a player is. You take the player you need and with the most upside. You don't say, oh, Barkley is really only worth the fifth overall pick, so we must pick someone else. ANd if the talking heads say that NO ONE is really work the #1 overall pick shouold we just skip our pick entirely?

Taking QBs early in the draft is now a very SOUND financial decision. Before the capping of the salary, that was completely different and a much larger risk.

I'm a fan of using #1 AND #2 or #3 on QBs. We desperately need a good QB on this team.

At OU Landry has been a better QB than Stephenson was a o-lineman. He just took games/quarters/plays off. But Stephenson has always had all the physical talent in the world just like Jones.

I don't trust either of them.

It's still hilarious to me that there wasn't a blue chip LT in the 2008 draft, yet there WAS a pretty good QB. Parcells needed both and reached on the LT with the low ceiling.

That decision alone through association should damn Pioli in this league for the rest of his life.

I swear some people still haven't understood how much the QB position impacts the game.

I don't care if the best QB prospect this year is the 30th overall best prospect or whatever, I'll take him first overall.

That's exactly what Salisbury said.

He said (and this is a direct quote):

"You don't gamble with the QB position."

This is what worries me. Drafting a QB #1 is hinged upon Pioli's removal, his ego kept Cassel at the helm until it was literally impossible to justify his presence on the field. He openly said we could win with Cassel, and he's an idiot. **IF** Pioli is still here, I fear for what he'll do...I never thought we'd have taken Tyson Jackson with the #3 pick, but he suits up in Chiefs red every Sunday anyway.

As soon as I log on to CP and see "PIOLI FIRED!" I'll get excited for the draft. I have been let down too many times to be optimistic about anything with this organization. God it sucks thinking that...

Absolutely. Especially with the wage scale in place.

The odds-on favorite to own the No. 1 overall pick in the 2013 NFL Draft, the Kansas City Chiefs will enter the upcoming offseason with a number of holes, including that of the quarterback position. Unfortunately, this year could provide the worst crop of quarterbacks in 5+ years, making it awfully difficult to select one with the first pick in the draft. Instead, the best move for Kansas City to make would be to draft an impact playmaker on offense or defense with the first pick before trading back up into the first round or staying at the top of the second round and landing their quarterback (Matt Barkley, Tyler Wilson, Geno Smith, etc.) there. Under this scenario, the best player for the Chiefs to draft is Notre Dame linebacker Manti Te'o. When it is extremely difficult to be considered for the Heisman Trophy as a linebacker, Te'o is considered one of two legitimate finalists for the trophy. With 427 tackles, 34 tackles for loss, and seven interceptions over the course of his four-year career, Te'o is as close to a can't-miss prospect as there is going to be in 2013 and would pair very favorably in the Chiefs' current 3-4 scheme with Derrick Johnson. If the team loses Jovan Belcher to free agency this offseason, the pick would become an even easier one to make. With Tamba Hali and Justin Houston outside, there isn't an immediate need for a player like Jarvis Jones.

That mock is just stupid.

I bet Geno, Barkley and Tyler Wilson ALL go in the first round.

And pick one out of Tyler Bray, Landry Jones, Aaron Murray and Mike Glennon to also go in the 1st.
