NFL teams implement fan code of conduct

Interesting and Innovative. I wonder how well this will go over in Philly?

http://www.nfl.com/news/story;jsessi...o&confirm=true

The NFL and all 32 NFL clubs have created a fan code of conduct to help promote a positive fan environment at NFL stadiums, it was announced Tuesday.

The fan code of conduct is designed to set clear expectations and encourage a stadium environment that is enjoyable for all fans. Teams may add additional provisions to the standard code based on local circumstances or preferences. Each team will communicate its code of conduct during the preseason to season-ticket holders and fans through mailings, online, and in-stadium signage, and other messages.

"The in-stadium experience is critically important to the NFL, our clubs and our fans and it will be a major focus this season," said NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell. "We are committed to improving the fan experience in every way we can -- from the time fans arrive in the parking lot to when they depart the stadium. We want everyone to be able to come to our stadiums and enjoy the entire day."

The code of conduct is intended to address behavior that detracts from the gameday experience. Any fan in violation of these provisions will be subject to ejection without refund and loss of ticket privileges for future games.

In addition to the fan code of conduct, the NFL and its clubs will evaluate fan feedback and existing programs to ensure their effectiveness and shape the development of new programs.

These measures are designed to build on the many outstanding programs already in place at NFL stadiums to enhance the fan experience.

Fan code of conduct

"The National Football League and its teams are committed to creating a safe, comfortable, and enjoyable experience for all fans, both in the stadium and in the parking lot. We want all fans attending our games to enjoy the experience in a responsible fashion. When attending a game, you are required to refrain from the following behaviors:

» Behavior that is unruly, disruptive, or illegal in nature.

» Intoxication or other signs of alcohol impairment that results in irresponsible behavior.

» Foul or abusive language or obscene gestures.

» Interference with the progress of the game (including throwing objects onto the field).

» Failing to follow instructions of stadium personnel.

» Verbal or physical harassment of opposing team fans.

"Event patrons are responsible for their conduct as well as the conduct of their guests and/or persons occupying their seats. Stadium staff will promptly intervene to support an environment where event patrons, their guests, and other fans can enjoy the event free from the above behavior. Event patrons and guests who violate these provisions will be subject to ejection without refund and loss of ticket privileges for future games."

Someone needs to read this to people, as they are entering the games in Oakland.

These people obviously have never been to a Cleveland Browns game, good Luck with those fans. The smart Browns fans don't attend the games.

It is literally dangerous to go to an Oakland game in a Chiefs shirt or cap.

I've done it many times, and it's always just fine. I even ride BART there and back sometimes. They are not as scary as they pretend to be. One time, I had a burger thrown at me, but it missed and everybody mocked the guy who threw it, not me.

I've been to San Diego several times, Minnesota and Arizona without incident. I went to Oakland once several years ago and it was not fun at all. We won which added to the tension. Never again.

Sounds like a bunch of subjective language.

What's abusive language?
What's failing to follow stadium personal directions mean?

about time they dealt with all the ridiculous drunks at NFL games. not saying i am against alcohol but there have been people at arrowhead i have seen fall over the row in front of them, fall down the stairs, puke in the aisle, brawls are becoming more frequent as the team sucks and tickets are available for little to nothing and basically anyone... road fans and lower class people...

when i used to have tickets there was a guy a couple rows back who was incoherently drunk week in and out and just swore at the top of his lungs the whoel time. hey i'm a chiefs fan too i know what it's like but shouldn't it be PG-13 there? I cant bring my nephews or nieces out there and it ought to be at least somewhat family friendly. maybe they need no alcohol or no drunks sections or something.

if you can be responsible then ok but they need to crack down on the people who are just making fools of themselves. you have to be some kind of loser to be falling down wasted at noon on sunday in my opinion anyway

I think some of the consequences are a bit unrealistic; particularly revokation of season tickets. Hoepfully they'll apply these consquences in proportion to the offense. Being drunk and maybe having potty mouth doesn't warrant revokation of season tickets.
Ejection; perhpas. But not the former.

A brawl/fight etc, then I would think it's more warranted.

What happens if a season ticket holder sells his seats on StubHub or some similar site, and the guy who buys them (that he doesn't know and will never meet) ends up starting a bunch of shit. Would the season ticket holder get in trouble or lose his seats over that?

the day i can no longer harass the other teams fans, is the day i quit going to sporting events. another thing, if you don't want people becoming intoxicated, why do you sell beer. sounds hypocritical to me.

the foul language i can understand, and i pretty much thought you had to follow stadium personel's instructions. sounds like a bunch of rehashed rules.

btw, good luck enforceing. lol, people not getting drunk at a football game, they REALLY are out of touch aren't they?

They need to clarify what 'drunk is'....by the 'law'...that's 1 beer basically.
While applied to traffic safety that's fine, however 'drunk' by 'normal' standards is probably normal at Chiefs games. SH*tfaced...is about 5 stages above drunk, and those people are the ones I think they need to address - the guys who don't even know where they are; know their names, and can't even speak.

I know I have at least 6-8 beers before even going in and don't consider myself 'drunk'; 'drunk' enought not to drive, but not enough to be ejected.

Hopefully they won't employ former DMV/Government workers to make this decision; these are the most obtuse people on the planet.

"Intoxication or other signs of alcohol impairment that results in irresponsible behavior."

They're not saying don't get drunk, they're don't get drunk and act irresponsible, yes?
