Late night bullshit: Some workout questions.

I'm looking to make my workout more rewarding.

Generally speaking, I have two "days."

I have a running day, and a workout day.

Mostly, I'm trying to improve leg strength to make myself faster.

What are some standard weight room stuff you do to improve leg strength?

Calves? Quads? Hammies? Glutes?

Also, I'm going to try to get some washboard abs going. Anybody here got those? What would you recommend? Sit-ups isn't getting me there fast enough.

My first thoughts would be barbell squats, leg press, and dumbbell lunges. If you like to throw in cardio intervals, try the row machine for 10 rounds of 200 meters with 30 second rests. Or just row 2000 meters. JMO, though. I'm not a workout guru.

Freebase prior to any lifting.

Best ab exercise recommendations?

As of now, I only have my running days, and on my workout days, I do sit-ups on the decline bench with a 35 lb weight.

I use to do a body weight/weight room workout combo for about a month every three/four months to breakup the monotony of the gym.

Track:
40 yard Wind sprints x 10; combined with Backwards 40 yard wind sprints
Hill sprints or stairs
400 run, walk a lap, 400 run, die

Gym:
Heavy leg press
Extensions
Stiff legged barbell deadlifts (strict)

Do you guys have a preference between barbell squats (which I do), and leg press (which I don't).

Find loose women on Craigslist. You can burn 5000 calories a day doing them.

A buddy placed second in a NPC natural event and he's never trained his abs.

I don't train my abs.

If you do enough work on shit like squats, deadlift, whatever, you don't need to train your abs.

Training your abs just gives you big ab muscles.

In fact, I remember working out at Moffett's Gym in Lenexa back in the day and we always made fun of guys training their abs because you know that they weren't getting any ass. You work your abs plenty during your lovemaking I'm sure.

Though, if you want to get a really nice core workout that combines flexibility and strength, I wholeheartedly recommend yoga at least once a week. Loves me some yoga. I'm pretty ****ing pissy when I don't get it in. Like this week. ****.
