Denver rookie QB John Elway, on Jack Lambert, after Lambert and the Steelers knocked Elway out of his first game as a pro (1983).

The only one who has ever been ultimately responsible for his downfall.....Is himself...
He has never been defeated at the height of his power by force

I don't wanna get too deep about a comic villain, but many people, readers IRL and characters in the stories as well have speculated that it's the pain of rejection throughout his life, from a young child all the way to falling in love with death that drives his hunger for power, but deep down, he never really wanted it.

Warlock explains it to him a CPL times and he contemplates in the closing pages of The Infinity Gauntlet.

Edit: I was thrilled to read that Kevin feige had said that Infinity War part 1 was basically fences movie.
It will pretty much be his movie, and he will be the main character in it.

I have always said that a hero is only as good as the villain he's facing and this guy is the villain of all villains.
That is going to be a legitimate challenge to this duology, and honestly it could end up being Infinite Wars' biggest problem (aside from having like 50 superheroes in it).

Thanos was completely unbeatable in IG. He was so unbeatable, the conflict on the comic book page could play out as boring on the big screen.

He's a god. And as a god, IG had to invent a ridiculous deux ex machina for him to be defeated. That will absolutely not fly on screen.

X-Men: Apocalypse ran into this same problem: mortals can't beat a god. In IG, even gods couldn't beat Thanos.

So what brings him down?

Almost certainly, nothing sensible will bring him down. He can't lose, so the writers will have to invent something stupid in order for him to lose.

This is the biggest thing anyone has tried to pull off.

It may suck, very hard.

Even if it does it will net BILLIONS and the faith of MCU nation will say "bhut part II will be better because MARVEL!"

Much like SW's episode 1.

He's only a god with the gauntlet.

Without it he's just a super powerful Inhuman...

Well, he's going to have the gauntlet in the climactic battle scene. So... how can he lose?

Tune in!

That looks very much like Hulk vs. Surtur. Damn.

And Thor looks to be powered up by an Infinity Stone standing on the Rainbow Bridge.

Jfc ppl...these are comic book movie for children. What exactly are your expectations for this film?

Its your typical summer box office popcorn flick.

As long as its not a shit flick like Dark World or BvS its gonna rake in, and it will at very least be entertaining.

The latest trailer look fun and certainly much better than the awful Thor 2 film but it also looks like the director took the GotG influence a bit too far.

Clancy Brown Cast As Surtur In Thor: Ragnarok

The new Thor: Ragnarok footage revealed at San Diego Comic Con on Saturday revealed a number of new creatures and beast which the God of Thunder will be encountering when the film rolls around. Among them was Surtur, the fiery demon residing in Hel.

Surtur, as he will seen in Thor: Ragnarok, is a product of two performances. Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi performed the motion capture sequences for the character on set while veteran actor Clancy Brown lends his voice to the character. Waititi revealed as much during a red carpet event at San Diego Comic Con following the Marvel Studios panel in Hall H.

"I did a little of the mo-cap stuff for Surtur, body wise, but then we have Clancy Brown doing the voice of Surtur," Waititi said.

In addition to Surtur and the director's chair, Waititi has an additional role in the film as Korg, the rock giant who Thor befriends while in Sakaar. "I'm playing a character from Planet Hulk called Korg," "He becomes Thor's mate. It started off as a very small role. It wasn't me, I didn't do it, but the role has gotten bigger now."

Brown is best known for his role as Mr. Krabs on Spongebob Squarepants, but also appeared in LOST, Shawshank Redemption, Starship Troopers, and Highlander.

In Marvel Studios' Thor: Ragnarok, Thor is imprisoned on the other side of the universe without his mighty hammer and finds himself in a race against time to get back to Asgard to stop Ragnarok – the destruction of his homeworld and the end of Asgardian civilization – at the hands of an all-powerful new threat, the ruthless Hela. But first, he must survive a deadly gladiatorial contest that pits him against his former ally and fellow Avenger – the Incredible Hulk!
Thor: Ragnarok is directed by Taika Waititi with a screenplay by Eric Pearson. The film stars Chris Hemsworth as Thor and Tom Hiddleston reprising his role as Loki. They are joined by Cate Blanchett (Hela), Idris Elba (Heimdall), Jeff Goldblum (Grandmaster), Tessa Thompson (Valkyrie), Karl Urban (Skurge), Anthony Hopkins (Odin), Sam Neill, Ray Stevenson (Volstagg), Tadanobu Asano (Hogun), Mark Ruffalo (Bruce Banner/Hulk), and Benedict Cumberbatch (Dr. Stephen Strange).

Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and Spider-Man: Homecoming are in theaters now, followed by Thor: Ragnarok on November 3, 2017. After that Black Panther debuts on February 16, 2018, while Avengers: Infinity War hits theaters on May 4, 2018. Ant-Man and the Wasp is slated for July 6, 2018, followed by Captain Marvel on March 8, 2019.
