Sounds like a demotion.

He used to be a director of college scouting with KC and was hired as an area scout for Buffalo.

I'll bet $ this was part of the handshake deal that got Buffalos GM fired...we'll give you less than normal draft pick compensation, but we will give you a couple guys from our scouting department in the offseason.
