Game of Thrones *Spoiler* Thread

There's been some recent confusion with the old spoiler thread, so I'm kicking off a new one for tonight's premiere. This is going to be the one for folks who've read all the books. So anything anybody might want to talk about is in bounds. Suffice to say, if you haven't read the books, you'll probably want to stay out of here until you do...

I'll bump the old spoiler-free thread shortly in case anybody's interested. For future reference the link to that one is here

Oh yeah, now I remember. Guess I had been more focused on the world thinking Theon had killed them.

The hound not being injured and the white walkers taking the babies are big departures.

I'm assuming the white walkers finally get their due in the new book. Why spoil the book readers?
They make it look like Arya will give Hound his wound. They could have easily had Hound get injured during the Inn fight and not had the stupid scene last week with the Hound killing that guy. I don't mind changes but I hate when they add things that don't advance the story at all and make no sense.

It was always assumed that the Others would take the babies that Craster left, we just didn't see it because of the POV style of the books.

In the books, Bran makes Sam promise not to tell Jon about him being alive and north of the wall, so it is another change to have Sam tell Jon on the show. Of course, on the show, Bran never tells Sam not to tell Jon.

Yeah, they're just trying to keep Bran involved and spiced up a bit. It's a bit boring for TV to watch him trudging north for a season and a half.

Yea, I wondered how they were going to do that storyline, because even in the books it is pretty long and drawn out.

Like I said a couple of times before, I have no problem with beefing up Bran's story. It needs it. I just thought what they did was really poorly executed. The entire expanse north of the wall and they end up camped a stone's throw from Craster's Keep? Too convenient. Ghost is captured and Jon has no idea? Uh huh. And as much as I like Burn Gorman, Karl Tanner is every moustache-twirling badguy I've ever seen at this point. It was all just groan-worthy. Hopefully it gets a little better as the season winds to a close.

So people are reading into the character at the end of the episode as some major person? I just figured that was the first time we saw a white walker, besides in the prologue of the series. The black armor kind of sealed that mention for me, because come to think of it we might have only witnessed wights up to this point in the show; except for as mentioned in the prologue.

Bran being caught at Craster's kind of gives the show watchers the feelings we had as Arya approached the Twins to reunite with her brother and mother. I guarantee all show watchers are praying Jon gets there to meet up with Bran, but how much do you want to bet that doesn't happen? I don't mind it; it's time those who haven't read felt our pain.

HBO synopsis online has retracted a spoiler that people would not have known even if they had read all the books regarding this.

I'm pretty sure the wights are what the dead turn into like the little girl in the prologue of episode 1,or what attacked Commander Mormont and Jon set on fire. The White Walkers or Others are the creepy looking ones we have seen on the dead horse at the Fist of the First Men or that Sam killed in the woods using the obsidian blade. This guy had a different look to him than the wights or white walkers we have seen, and he apparently has the power to create the White Walkers. Not sure if he is supposed to be the Great Other that Melisandre refers to, or if he is the Night King as HBO indicated in its website before taking it down. But I do think he is different somehow from the wights and the white walkers, he certainly looks different.

I could see that. Just the black armor kind of brought me back to the prologue and we haven't seen any of the white walkers, this far, don that armor. I was under the assumption, since there were several wearing black armor, that that was our first true glimpse at a white walker.

**** me. You're right. The wights are humans brought back, but maybe that is why those decaying bodies and horses appear the way they did; because they were brought back from the dead. All I know is that prologue showed a much different creature than what we have come to know as white walkers. These characters resemble what we were originally shown.
