So lets talk casting. WHo does everyone want to play the lead role?

There are rumors that Jonathan Rhyes Meyers (The Tudors) may be cast as the lead.

I hope this isnt true cause I dont like him as an actor. But I can believe it cause him and JJ worked on Mission Impossible 3 together.

I want either Jack Huston or Michael Pitt as the leads. Both actors are excellent on Boardwalk Empire and I want them to become a household name.

The first JJ Star Trek was off the charts fantastic, the 2nd was good. Every reboot of a series has a bad one in the bunch.

As it stands, ID is $47 million shy of Star Trek's domestic earnings. While it'll likely earn that $15 million, putting it on par with the prior film's earnings, plus the additional $40 million it cost to make, it's certainly not what Paramount had in mind when green-lighting this film and waiting four years for its release.

It's not really a "winner", especially considering the domestic gross, which it isn't like to match.
That makes sense. Like I said, I hadn't done any real research into the numbers. Just some looking at the oversimplified wikipedia stuff. I knew it was a domestic letdown either way. Thanks for the info.

And I thought I read he was not going to rerelease the originals because they were not his full vision, he did not have the tech then. The altered are what he wanted. Which I have those also. Only thing really pisses me off is the singing alien.

There's no script so casting is irrelevant.

And there's no way that JRM is the "lead". That guy can't carry a TV show, let alone a Star Wars film. He might eventually be cast, as he's been in other Abrams films but lead? No way.

So you'd rather see the matte lines? Do you have any idea how those would appear at 1080i?

These really aren't comparable. The Star Trek enhancements weren't ridiculous. Had Darth Lucas been in charge, there would have piles of tribbles and multi-colored aliens in the background of every shot.

And Kirk would have never fired first.

Ah, don't fool yourself, my friend. Paramount changed as much as they could without making scenes look overtly fake. Had Star Trek been filmed on green screen sets instead of standard sets on the Paramount lot, they would have changed and added much more.

Keep on mind, these revisions aren't for you or me or even our kids: They're for our grand kids and future generations that would otherwise dismiss the series due to the cheesy VFX.

Um, we don't even know what the lead role is, yet.

I'm thinking they're going to go with the old cast in the lead role for this one, with some young actors playing the Solo kids or something.

They'll kill off the older cast one by one in each movie.

Slowly the younger actors will inherit the franchise.

I'd SO be down for that.

Luke can sacrifice himself ala Obi Wan in Star Wars IX!

During the search for Episode VII's director, the most prominent rumor I heard was that the star would be a teenage girl. Mia Wasikowska was the name being bandied about.

But knowing Lucasfilms, it could have been a decoy. I don't think we'll hear plot rumblings until the end of the year at the earliest.

I think it'd be cool to see Luke slowly become a Vader/Emperor character over time.

He's pretty much the only (Jedi) game in town after ROTJ. You know he'd love to travel the universe squashing what was left of the Empire like roaches...

Denver rookie QB John Elway, on Jack Lambert, after Lambert and the Steelers knocked Elway out of his first game as a pro (1983).

Arnt there multiple sith lords? I would think having multiple attack the new rebuplic and each other would be fun. Luke and cast are regulated to background roles. I would figure his jedi academy has had one or two classes now and other jedi had come out of hiding.

My villians would be two sith. One does not use a lightsaber. Only force powers. That one force drains an entire small planet from space. The other generally only uses sabers. But when he does use the force just as powerful. But includes the sabers. Think of force controlling 20 sabers to kill a sith lord and his minons.

For the last 1,000 years in the Star Wars galaxy, there have been only two Sith Lords: A master and an apprentice.

Now, that doesn't mean that Palpatine wasn't training someone to take Vader's place but if they're going to stick to canon, the Sith Lords have been wiped out with the events of ROTJ.
