Chiefs will rely on OL Eric Kush to Anchor their line

Chiefs will rely on OL Eric Kush to Anchor their line

Kansas City Chiefs will rely on small schooler Eric Kush to Anchor their line
When you talk about relying on someone, I cannot think of a better player to put the weight for the Kansas City Chiefs. Eric Kush is from a small school in CalPa, but don’t let that fool you. This kid is a true gamer, and is one of the most nitty gritty players you will ever meet.Eric Kush is probably one of the best all around offensive lineman in the entire NFL Draft. I watched several games of the Vulcan center, and the first word that comes to my mind is versatile. Versatile is a perfect word for a person that can play anywhere on the offensive line. Over his career he has been asked to play up and down the line, and I feel at 6’3 and 302 pounds, he can play any position, but is more likely to be used as a guard or center at the next level. I had the opportunity to sit down with Eric and ask him some questions pre draft. Check out what he said here:

How many teams were recruiting you coming out of high school and how did you make your decision?
Quote:
Eric Kush:I was a little undersized coming out of high school, so I didn’t get much love from larger schools. I focused on finding a school that taught technology education. At the time there were only two schools in Pa that offered it, I began thinking to myself “I wish Cal U would just come in because I would go right there”. The next week they showed up and I started the process with them.
Who was your favorite NFL team growing up, and did you have a player you rooted for?
Quote:
Kush:Being from Pittsburgh it was a given to root for the Steelers, I enjoyed watching Alan Faneca.
At your position, how do you break down film, please inform our readers what you look for when breaking down film?
Quote:
Kush: When breaking down film you look at your plays against the other teams defense to see what’s gonna work and what might struggle. You look for weaknesses in their game and try to exploit them.

Do you have any hobbies, if so tell the world what it is?
Quote:
Kush:I have a Jeep Wrangler so I like to do some off-roading in my free time. I also enjoy anything fire arms. Trap shooting, skeet shooting, or even just going to the range and going through a couple boxes of ammo.
If you could play any other sport besides football what sport would you want to go pro in?
There isn’t really a “pro” wrestling league but I would want to wrestle free style in the Olympics
What would you eat If it was your last meal?
Quote:
Kush:My moms stuffed shells, she does a really good job with them
Before the game, what song might I hear on your ipod?
Quote:
Kush: Anything old school, Metallica or anything 5FDP
Do you have any pre game rituals?
Quote:
Kush: I painted my face up before getting dressed for games to get in the “zone”
What did you tell NFL teams that are weary of taking a late round flyer on you?
Quote:
Kush:I’m here to work my butt off and reach goals. I’m not gonna stop till I meet those goals.
If you could compare your play to someone in the NFL, who would it be?
Quote:
Kush: Maurkice Pouncey
What is the most tragic event in your life that has happened and how did you bounce back?
Quote:
Kush: My grandfather passed away in the middle of football camp my freshman year at Cal, I just thought about how proud of me he was and kept on going.
Everyone asks this question but I’m curious to know what will you buy first with your first NFL pay check?
Quote:
Kush:I will pay off my little bit of student loans first.
If you could meet one person, dead or alive who would it be and why?
Quote:
Kush:I would love to meet any one of the Founding Fathers to pick their brain about the Government and what they would think of it today.

I just wish we had an elite QB so I can get excited about O-linemen again. I used to have nocturnal emissions dreaming about the blocking of Roaf, Shields, and co. back in the day. Sure Green wasn't an "elite" QB but he was good enough at the time.

When I first saw the title I thought, "oooh, somebody saw something interesring at OTAs."

Then I read it and thought, "Oh. This is some college local in love with the local boy."

Then I followed the link and saw it is a"national" level blog with no local allegiance. Have no idea why he thinks a late pick will be an anchor in his rookie season. Unless the writer is touting a bunch of late picks. If one ever hits he can say "I saw him first!"

As Chief fans we have been beaten into submission as to what an elite qb is. So much so, that some of the fans use Green as the bar to gauge good QBs.

Sad really.

I don't use him as a gauge, but he's sadly the best we've had since....Joe I guess.

OP should really read:

Chiefs will rely on OL Eric Kush to make their decision to go with Alex Smith with look somewhat less reeruned

that would be too honest i suppose

If an outsider were to look at our O-line from last year at a glance, it would appear that we didn't have a center to speak of. Therefore, given that context, I understand the title.
