I'm with you.....I moved down here because I grew tired of the snow and ice in the winter time.

Although tornadoes are still still possible down here they are not as frequent as in the Midwest....and I have seen my share of floods.

Have absolutely no desire to live out West....the cost of living, the earthquakes, fires.

I think I will stay here and tough out the occasional tornadoes and hurricanes. As someone else pointed out, at least with the hurricanes you have time to make a decision to leave or stay.

He is in Arizona. I believe he is referring to Arizona.

There isn't typically any humidity where I'm at, firmly in the rain shadow of the Rockies. There was some this summer and I almost died about it.

I don't know how you swamp dwellers do it.

We have 9 months of mild weather for three hot summer months.
I wouldn't want to go further south like around Miami though. It's hot many more months.

Believe it or not, somedays it's cooler, like 88° here when it's hotter up north, especially if you live in a heat sink— a city. So we stay inside with the central AC on and go out to dip in the pool on the really hot and humid days.

AC made the state of Florida. Can you imagine what it was like here when the Spanish came, wearing all that metal armor or heavy clothing? Bugs everywhere too.

Arizona is pretty freakin' hot though too. More than here. It just doesn't have humidity with it.

I don't live in the valley.... the hottest it got here this summer was one week when it was ~100-103 (which is a heat index of 96-99 without the humidity). Hell, I've had my A/C off since about a week after 4th of July weekend.

Don't tell anyone though, it's a big secret. Arizona is SSSSOOOO HOT!

Some, but nothing close to the coasts, especially the east coast. It's like the difference between a wet, a hot room, and dry sauna IMO.

So there are trade-offs, you can live in the wet sauna (the east coast), a dry sauna (the desert), or a hot room (the Midwest).

I, and this is just me, would take the dry sauna of the desert states over the east and south coastal areas. I lived on the east coast for WAAAAAY too long, and summers were miserable because of the humidity, it's just nasty!

That being said, when my body can no longer make heat, maybe I change my mind and move back to the human incubator states..

I disagree. Heat waves in the MidWest are much like they are in New England with the same humidity. We just have more days like that here. But in NE the ocean provides some breezes if you're on one.

With AC-not any more. Not that I moved here for weather reasons. I rather like snow.

Lump sum total, we have more days to enjoy outside weather—with the exception of summer. I treat summer like winter was once to me—our period of staying indoors.
