Movies

Yeah, so I saw a lot of movies this weekend.

Elizabeth: The Golden Age - Mediocre, at best. Slow and dragged on. Shorten it to 2 hours and it's golden. It's not, so it fails.

Michael Clayton - Amazing. Everything about it is awesome. However, it's VERY complex and mind bending. You have to think, so be prepared. I still feel like I'm missing key details of exactly what happened. Gotta see it again.

Across the Universe - Perfect is one word that comes to mind. It just works. And, contrary to many people I bet, the movie is best viewed sober. Trust me.

I don't get it. So you watched The English Patient last Tuesday but didn't like Schindler's List which you saw two years ago?

Hey KevB, now you've made me curious. What are the three nominees that you haven't seen yet?

Also, you didn't drive an orange van when you were in high school by any chance did you?

Well, according to his post he has seen:

After googling the list of nominated films I would say that he has not seen:

The Kids are alright
The Fighter
127 Hours

127 hours is pretty great BTW. ****ed up.

KevB was not ambiguous. His meaning was very clear unless you presume that he can't count to ten.

Of the Best Picture nominees I have seen: Black Swan, 127 Hours, Inception, The Fighter, The King's Speech, Winter's Bone and The Social Network.

Of those, I thought Black Swan was the worst, by far (obviously I am in the minority there). My wife could not stand Black Swan either. Black Swan really did nothing for me, and people seem to be already etching Natalie Portman's name in for Best Actress but for my money, Jennifer Lawrence in Winter's Bone was a more compelling role.

I agree with everything you said here.

Portman's role is not the issue I have with Black Swan. She is deserving of her nomination and possibly the award.

Winter's Bone was an excellent movie IMO, and Lawrence is just as deserving as Portman.

It should be an entertaining ceremony at least... not knowing who will win for sure.

If there is any possibility that he can't count to ten, the sentence structure is ambiguous.

In the generalized sense, he said 'I saw some more movies, so now I've seen most of the list [THE REST BEING, xxx, yyyy, zzzz]'

I'm having to jump through significant mental hoops to read it as ambiguous. I finally figured out how to do it, though:
1.) pretend that I don't know what "context" is
2.) ignore the first three sentences of the post

I didn't care for it. Maybe I just wasn't in the right frame of mind to watch it, but I was bored by it.
