Game of Thrones Seasons 7-8

About to hit the 5000 post mark on the old thread, the first season 7 trailer today seems like the right time to start the final Game of Thones thread.

I'm going back to the original rules pre-2015. I don't think we need supervision or bannings. Just don't be a dick. Post anything you find online that hasn't aired yet inside of spoiler tags. That's pretty much it. I think we can all handle that...

So since White Walkers can just walk through fire, that's probably why it didn't matter if Drogon aimed for them or not. And since there is now a white walker/ice dragon... their fire likely won't work against him either. Gotta shoot dragon glass spears out of the scorpion... another reason to need Cercie.

So the Whitewalkers are less than 12 hours from the wall? 7-8 guys can fed off thousands of them bum-rushing?....didn't lend itself to making them seem like a very imposing enemy.

I mean, they were on a ledge and saved by dragons almost immediately. It's not like they fought them off on flat ground. They were saved by the ice breaking.

Another part of the Bran theory that doesn't make sense, why does he try to kill Bran if Bran is him? On top of them being alive at the same time not making sense.

He would be fulfilling an event he knew happened in the timeline and would be fully aware that the outcome would send Bran south of the wall.

What purpose can Tormund possibly serve to the story at this point? As a pure storytelling device, the highest and best use of his character right now is to kill him off and keep the audience tense.

But again - bad storytelling.

They could be throwing you a curveball with him. He got out of there only to be killed when NK attacks eastwatch. They could brutalize it by him about to shack up with Brienne then death. I'm holding out hope they do something creative.

Really though they need a face you can recognize at the wall. I think that's it.

I felt the exact same about Bronn in episode 4. You want to add a real emotional blow to that battle? Have a dothraki screamer gut Bronn as he prepared the death blow to Drogon as Jaime watched. That could have been what compelled the Kingslayer to go on a suicide ride against Dany.

So Dragonmother doesnt need a coat when flying north of the wall? Some dude just hangin out with the Whitewalkers, waiting with with fire chains? It took less than 12 hours for a guy to get back to the wall, wake up, send a raven then send a dragon?

It's a mace with fire in it. And the prevailing theory is Bran sent him.

They only defended their position for a couple minutes and they were about to get overrun.thats not unreasonable.

John escaping is wonky. He may have had a dragonglass dagger or something.

It was like 2.5 days. Still too short even for Drogon but far better than what you think.

I don't mind the quick pace this season. They've done enough slow, story development. Is it's time for several storylines to start getting some payoffs. But I understand why some don't like it.

The timeline plot holes don't bother me either. They're jumping around to keep the fast pace for this season.

I think the Nights king was about to target Drogon, when the other dragon started to come in on a fire path making route at the NK, then he targeted V. The whights and walkers are leaving the area, probably to get the chains, so again the timeline doesn't bother me, because I'm not seeing it as "real time". We're seeing the next important part of that story.

I didn't even mind the idea of going to get a whight to show Cerci, I just knew that Dani would lose a dragon from it too. Benjin - whatever. Jon shouldn't have fallen into the water anyway. Dani should've just been part of the team to get the whight all along, could still lose the dragon, get the whight and learn how badass Jon can be in another way.

I'm most disappointed with Bran not saying more, whatever is going on with Arya (I hope she was sloppy following LF and is actually setting a trap for him).

Bran's power seems kind of useless. He can see shit but he can't do anything about it (outside of the Hodor warging).

Hoping Arya is just making Sansa play a game to **** with Little Finger and catch him with his pants down.

I was a bit apathetic about the dragon dying. Don't really care too much about them outside of Drogon, mostly due to lack of screen time with them and the fact that I don't really care for Daenerys all that much. Way too much of an arrogant dragon **** who thinks everything belongs to her and should go her way. I was disappointed when Jon decided to bend the knee, but I can understand why he chose to do so.

Where did the White Walkers get a mile of heavy-duty chain in the middle of Antarctica? Did their scuba team find the dragon?

There has been little development of the history of the Whitewalkers...how did they come back into being? Their army looks like a bunch of Walking Dead retreads...the leader looks amazing though. Great aesthetic/design.

I know nothing about any leaks but do have a theory about what we will see this Sunday.

D&D are huge on foreshadowing.

They've established Cersei is going to rely on the Iron Bank to likely employ the Golden Company mercenaries.

They've established that Tyrion has got the religious in Essos to back Danny via the Red Witches.

They have Melissandra back in Essos and promising to return.

Then...

I could see Euron ferrying the Golden Company over as the trap Cersei lays for Dany - only to have them double-cross her because they value the Lord of Light more than gold so we get the treachery and satisfaction of Cersei's loss all in the same episode. Cleaganebowl happens when Mountain tries to protect her. I think Varys or someone else major's duplicity is revealed and they die too. I think a lot of major players will die Sunday.

Didn't the giants have chains when they attacked the wall the first time around with Mance Rader? I assume that the chains came from the remains of wildling/giant civilization.

As for white walker history, it was shown last season, season 6 episode 5, when Bran goes into the past and sees what the Children did in order to fight man.
