Good place to find uncommon board games?
I've been looking all over for a certain board game called Game of Thrones as a Christmas present for my brother. I can find information about the game itself, and its three expansions, on the internet, but I can't find anywhere to go buy the game at. I started out with Target/Walmart and then tried Borders and Hastings and so far I haven't had any luck.
Do any of you know of a place that has a huge selection of board games? This one is based on the books by George R. R. Martin, and is the board game, not the D20 gaming book that was also created. |

Though, you probably want it before Christmas, which means you might be too late to get it online. I'd try RPG and Anime type stores. I don't know of any in KC, but I imagine there are a few.

Yeah, I had seen some of them from online shopping sites, but on almost all of them I've seen it was out of stock and noted as most likely not shipping for over 30 days.
I was thinking the same thing about RPG type of stores, although I hadn't thought of anime. I'll see if I can find any in the area. |

I thought Game of Thrones was a card game.
wouldn't you be able to buy the cards and then pick up the rulebooks later? you should check comic book stores to see if they carry this... they're usually the ones to sell D&D/magic/pokemon type stuff.

It has cards, but it also has a game board and other parts. There is a store I know of in Warrensburg that is a D&D store that might have it. I don't remember the name though.

This thread made me interested in finding myself a copy of this board game, so I sent an e-mail to Fantasy Flight Games. Here is their reply.
"Hello, Chris. Unfortunately, we do not have the means to do automatic replies whengames come back in print. We are less set up as a typical retailestablishment, and more as a publisher. We will be reprinting it, and when it becomes available it will be a news item on our mail webpage, and it will be listed on our reprintswebpage (which is updated weekly) here: http://www.fantasyflightgames.com/reprints.html At this time we are thinking early 2008 for the reprint, and that should be reflected on the webpage shortly! You may be able to find a local game store who can give you a heads upwhen the game comes back into stock - it is a popular title, just one that we sold more than we expected so it beat the reprint time schedule. Thanks for your patience. Thaadd Powell Customer Service Fantasy Flight Games"

Of course, the fact that I'm a complete and total bastard when I play (especially Monopoly and Risk) probably doesn't help. |
