**** Official Winter Storm Rocky Thread ****

This deserves its own thread at this point. Both major forecast models are calling for 8+ inches of snow in the KC metro again.

Tell that to my driveway, and my back.

I have no doubts that the temps will drop tonight, but the moisture is having a tough time developing and wrapping around the backside of the storm like it was predicted to do..most of it is just shearing out in to small bands. The bulk of the moisture is developing well east of the low at this point, which puts it well east of KC.

The prediction is that the low will be well east (and south) of KC. That's why the accumulation predictions are so high. The highest amount of precipitation falls on the backside (northwest) side of the low. It's setting up just that way.

I'm aware of that, but the radar just doesn't look very healthy on the backside at this point. Perhaps it will change

According to Ch.41's blog, Ch. 4's Mike Thompson is claiming the storm is changing and KC may not see much accumulation.

I just watched Lezak. 10-14" in the KC Metro (heaviest south of I-70). People in Oak Grove and Harrisonville (ESE of the metro) are dead center at 14-20". Yikes!

Nothing significant has developed in the area yet. It's still working its way here.

What the f*** are u talking about? Weather channel still saying at least 8 for almost all of the KC metro area. 12-16 for southern Johnson County.

Well, the Weather Channel is predicting 4-8" of accumulation, and Gary Lezak is predicting 10-17" of accumulation. Take your pick.

Some models have shifted it south. The would knock down the snow totals quite a bit. I'll wait for people that actually know what they're doing to put out new forecasts.

Mike Thompson went 4-12, matching the number of Wellbutrin he's consumed today.
