If the Chiefs go 8-8 or better 49ers get a 2nd round pick.

A third- or second-rounder from Kansas City, the remnant of the Alex Smith deal. Now it can be told: The second draft choice San Francisco will receive from the Smith deal will be K.C.'s second-rounder in 2014 if the Chiefs go 8-8 or better this season. It will be a third-rounder in 2014 if Kansas City is under .500 this season.

So: San Francisco will probably have first-, second- and four third-rounders next year. But if the Chiefs surprise, it'll more likely be a one, two twos and three threes. As we've seen, GM Trent Baalke is dangerous with extra picks in his hands. If Colin Kaepernick is very good, the Niners should be annual contenders for years with the picks laid out that way.

Rotoworld is quoting Pro Football Focus, if you looked in the link.

Rotoworld doesn't "hate" anyone, they just present news and stats. It just so happens that nearly every single stat (aside from 1 or 2 cherry picked stats over the last 1.5 yrs) paints Alex in a negative light.

You guys can deny all you want. You are presented with facts. You can interpret them however you choose.

We might as well plan on sending the second rounder. Alex is going to Dominate this year as the Chiefs go 12-4 for the division title.

This trade is a steal for us. Only giving a couple of 2nd rounders for this guy was a joke-We get a #1 franchise quarterback that will lead us to Multiple Superbowl wins.

Best trade Chiefs ever made.

All the Naysayers and Alex haters will be looking pretty silly this time next year.

8-8, some good tailgating and good times and memories!

I'm sorry for laughing but you are "that guy" that has been mocked around here for the last 5 years. I've never seen a more perfect example of a "TrueFan".

Hey, if that floats your boat fine. Everyone here denys that that they are a TF, but you embrace it. "TrueFans" will always be around.

It's not that I can't find excitement. It's that I've seen the Alex Smith type of QB too often in KC to BELIEVE he's going to be able to throw 30+ times a game and maintain his low-attempts succes from 2011 and 2012. Or to BELIEVE Smith's issues on 3rd down are just a fluke (and not symptomatic of his weaknesses of a player).

I'm not going to sit idly by while others blow smoke up Alex Smith's ass, either. He is what he is. Somewhere between the 15th and 20th best starting QB in the NFL. That's fine. They gave up too much for him.

And a lot of people are going to be happy winning 6-10 games, even if the Chiefs are no closer to winning anything of significance. Good for them.

A fact is that Alex has had a top 5-10 QB passer rating in his last two seasons.

A fact is, I have watched every SF game for many years... and Alex is and was a good QB that had faced a mountain of shit circumstances... and still came out as a good QB where many others would have gone postal or just quit.

Yet some want to snatch out specific TEAM stats that don't show him in a positive light... so okay... knock yourselves out. Make YOUR starting QB look as terrible as possible, if that makes you feel better.

They'll win 10-11 games with even solid QB play

Those TEAM stats I'm pointing out... they're driven by the QB. That's Alex Smith.

Let's stop acting like Alex Smith's struggles on 3rd down aren't a well-visited topic. He has been terrible on 3rd down on the NFL, even with Harbaugh as his coach.

I followed the 49ers closely enough (Due to Justin Smith and Aldon Smith) the past few years to know that they were bad on 3rd down and to know that Smith's struggles in that area were a frequently discussed topic in San Francisco.

I agree- the Negativity on here is crazy. We get Alex badass Smith, New GM, New Coach, get rid of Cashole and Fraidy Quit, mostly new coaching and strength staff- world class- the Number 1 stud in the draft, lots of great new talent and still...

people complain-

This team is Completly different from last year- top to bottom. We will be Running all over teams- with our running game and our defense which was already great- gets more talent and a top notch offense on the other side of the ball.

We are in for a Hell of a ride!!

And again I'll call you on your bullshit. His QB rating only went up when he started throwing less and completing these short high percentage passes while guys like Trent Green who actually was a boarder line top 10 QB in his day got better the more he threw which was about 15 more times a game than Alice did last year.

You can stick your head up your ass all you want, but the evidence is undeniable.

Like I said, you have TWO stats. TWO. In an 8 year career. You have two stats that came in a span of 1.5 years....not two seasons....1.5 seasons....he was BENCHED.

And when you dig deeper into those stats, you see how incredibly misleading they are.

Deny all you want, i don't care.

I hear you. "He's good, he's good, he's good".

So good that the 49ers didn't want him before the season started, and so good that he was benched at the first opportunity, half way through the season.
