Late night bullshit: It won't be Brockers, Still, or Cox.

There's been some talk bubbling up that Michael Brockers or another three tech could be a Chief at the #11 overall or if the Chiefs trade down.

I don't think this is terribly likely.

I do think it's likely the Chiefs look to fortify the DE spot so some kid can get his rookie season in learning the five tech position while Jackson, Dorsey, and Bailey take all the reps. Dorsey is gone in 2013 so it could be a good idea to maintain depth going into that year.

In other years, I could see the Chiefs getting a DE at #11 or lower in the first after trading down.

Not this year.

There are three guys who'd interest me at the position: Michael Brockers, Devon Still, and Fletcher Cox.

I think the Chiefs will pass on all three, no matter how far down they trade, unless they get some absolutely stupid value at the very, very bottom of the first.

Brockers is probably not a fit in Kansas City. He brings absolutely zero passrush. His inability to rush the passer is at a Shaun Smith level of pathetic. Little ability to get push, no real speed to close the gap as he just looks like he's running in sand. His play against the run is much better, but I don't see the slam dunk 1st round prospect people see.

Of all the players I'm talking about in this thread, Brockers probably fits the two-gap 3-4 the most... he's not a penetrator, he absorbs blockers so others make plays. That's what he did at LSU. But Pioli's Chiefs have had a bookend combo of Dorsey and Jackson, and I really think they're getting exhausted with it. Slower, run-in-sand types that hold up well against the run but offer zero passrush. Keep in mind the Patriots did have Ty Warren and Richard Seymour -- so they don't want their DEs to be one-dimensional, two-down run stuffers, necessarily.

But that's exactly what Brockers is. Or I guess I should say has been for one season. One season, especially at this position, is not promising enough to warrant a first-round pick. Brockers makes the most sense to me as a 4-3 nose.

Cox looks more like a one-gapping 3-4 player to me. He's very fast and plays very slippery against both the pass and the run. Mississippi State pretty much just asked him to shoot the gaps, even against the run it's pretty much what he did.

Still looks pretty prototypical. He's tall, can fill out more of his frame, and is equally powerful against the pass and the rush.

Still's problem is motivational. He's a big character concern, the motor isn't always there. I saw him just give out on entire games, and that's just something that sticks with you at the next level. Hell, it probably gets worse -- your three defensive lineman aren't going to accomplish shit without mental toughness. Crennel hasn't really shown any desire to chase these kinds of linemen. And after drafting Baldwin last year, I think Pioli wants a break from these kinds of players.

My wish is one offseason we'll take care of needs we can address in FA so we can draft the BPA. Like a highly touted skill player, not a reach because he "fits" our system.

Is Worthy worthy of a first rounder with a trade down in effect for KC?

Worthy is more of a 4-3 kinda guy to me. He'd be a tweener in the 3-4, especially the two-gapping system.

Too big and immobile to play DE, too small and not resilient enough to play nose.

And next year!

One thing we have going is that we did it the right way; and we still have all of our picks now, and going forward.

We didn't sell our future for a quick fix.

This is how the Patriots keep their roster so loaded with talent, and I think we will continue to do the same as the next couple years unfold.

But still, we need to do whatever the **** it takes to get an elite qb.

I have a feeling I'm going to get flamed for saying this, but I think Cassel is going to have a great year. With all the talent on O there is also a hidden factor. The number 2 is a guy the new coach drafted in the first round in a previous stop with the new OC as his offensive coordinator. If there's anything that screams, "I want to replace you"any more I don't know what it is.

Why do you think it was a run-first offense?

Cassel's head explodes if he has to run a pass-first offense.

Do me a favor genius. Look up Joe Montana's stats. No I'm not comparing Matty to Joe Montana, however I find it odd that Montana won the NFL MVp in 89 with a 3500, 26 td 8 int performance.

But 20 years later it isn't good enough. Please come at me with it was a different era bullshit too.
