Alcohol inhibits REM sleep. You may pass out, but your cells will not reconstruct as they are suppossed to when you sleep.
Make sure you are not ingeting any caffeine or other drug that could keep you awake. Smoking (cigs) can also mess with sleep for some. (I dunno if you smoke cigs..) If all else fails, you could try taking a hormone supplement - short term. Melatonin might help, but don't get hooked on it. See your doctor if this persists. Or see if you can find a girl to have sex with you and drift off afterwards. Or at least after you pay her and she leaves. |

On a serious note as the stress of life continues to build up there are two things I have done. One is workout hard, if you do you will sleep no problem every night. On the very rare occasion that I can't sleep I take a prescription sleeping pill. I told the doctor I can't sleep sometimes even though it is very rare I didn't say that. I probably need to do that again as I have a whole bottle of pills that are getting old that I have but 2 of over the last 18 months. It's worth having there is you need them on that rare occasion though, nothing worse than looking at the ceiling all night other than having to get up 30 minutes after you went to sleep.

As stated above, have numerous cocktails. I would also throw in pulling a hooker train. Get at least two. Not your normal run of the mill hookers, but WWF looking old hides that will really take the wind out of yoru kite. You will sleep like a baby.

Zach, get yourself an over the counter solution, Melatonin. I used to take it when It was bebopping back and forth from Heidelberg every few months. Take two about 45 minutes to an hour before you want to go to bed, start turning down the lights. When it's time to hit the sack, make sure the room is dark. You'll sleep like a baby. Also helps to jack off before you hit the hay too.

Personally I like my Crown about 3 fingers in a fat glass over ice.
