So, how is everybody filling their Battlestar Galatica void?

Personally, I'm rewatching Babylon 5. I'm about halfway through the first season.

It depends on your tastes really. Babylon 5 is probably the more intellectual of the two with its political intrigue and deeper themes, but I just couldn't help but fall in love with the uniqueness of Farscape with its quirky characters and its humorous writing. For me, I rank Farscape a little higher.

That's a matter of perspective.

I like Babylon 5, but I've never considered it a "great" show. But there are folks who think it's the best science fiction show of all time. Whereas I don't think it was even the best science fiction show centered on a space station on the air at the time (that would be Deep Space 9). The story is interesting, the real strength of the series, but the acting (and the production) is so bad at times that it almost ruins it.

Farscape, on the other hand, was one of my favorite shows of all time (any genre). I didn't start watching it until the third season (I think), assuming it was crap because it was on SciFi and had muppets. Once I got into it, I started watching and recording the reruns and eventually got to see the entire run of the series. There's some bad stand-alone episodes strewn in, but all-in-all it's a really strong show from beginning to end, and it has pretty much everything you could ever want in a show - action, drama, comedy, romance, mostly (really) good special effects.

So I think my vote's pretty clear. But I think others will disagree.

Man.

I am going through TV Show Depression right now.

In December I started watching The Wire and BSG from the very beginning and in March/April I finished both shows.

I started watching Deadwood, which is cool, but it doesn't even tip the scales for me.

I guess its time for me to start getting back into video games.

I have the opposite problem. Just finished a fairly brutal month of work, and I'm struggling just to get my DVR cleared quickly enough that old stuff won't be deleted to make room for new.

Wiping episodes of Life on Mars helped a little.

I really like Babylon 5. It ran for five seasons. The first season and the last season were hit-and-miss (although I'm finding the first season is better than I remembered it being), but 2, 3 and 4 were fantastic. Whereas the episodes in the first season were generally unrelated (sort of like a typical Star Trek episode), after that it picked up a continuous, linear story that was very good. It also got much better with the change of leads in season 2 - Boxleitner is much better than O'Hare.

However, I can't really compare it to Farscape, since I've never watched Farscape. Perhaps I'll do that next. I would say that Babylon 5 compared favorably to Star Trek Next Generation and was better than Deep Space Nine.
