Game of Thrones *Spoiler* Thread

There's been some recent confusion with the old spoiler thread, so I'm kicking off a new one for tonight's premiere. This is going to be the one for folks who've read all the books. So anything anybody might want to talk about is in bounds. Suffice to say, if you haven't read the books, you'll probably want to stay out of here until you do...

Books 4 and 5 are a little slower paced than 1 and 2, and a lot slower paced than book 3. You've got to stick with it though because they do advance the story to a point where book 6 should be as awesome as book 3 was. Use the slower pace to pay more attention to the details as there are some subtle things going on that he doesn't really say outright.

That being said, you should stay out of this thread so as not to get spoiled because there is a lot of infor posted in here from books 4 and 5.

Well, that's weird. I don't really "get" vine, but it'll be interesting to see if it takes off.

If I remember correctly, books 4 and 5 are actually along the same timelines but are broken up so as to tell the tales of all the characters

Seemed anti-climactic although there were some great scenes (especially Arya and the Hound at the campfire followed by Jon and Ygritte).

Just plowed through books 1-5

Pretty disappoint no Strong Belwas featured in the show.

Also, Jon getting shanked prison style is going to upset alot of people

No way he dies. He will certainly be altered in some fundamental way, but he'll survive.

I've probably said this a dozen times by now, but no major POV character has ever been permanently killed at the end of his/her POV chapter. Catelyn had her throat slit and died at the end of hers, but we all know how that turned out. (It will be interesting to see if she ever gets another POV chapter.) He made it look like Arya was killed at the end of one of hers, but what read like a death blow was just her being knocked unconscious. And IIRC, the only major POV character who did permanently die was Ned, and it was during Arya's POV chapter, not his.
