Yet another reason why Denver kicks our butt

They pawn their garbage off for two top-10 picks in the third and fourth rounds.

Lelie trade produces third-, fourth-round picks
Compensation taking shape
By Bill Williamson
Denver Post Staff Writer
Article Last Updated: 12/26/2006 09:31:08 PM MST

The Broncos' compensation for trading wide receiver Ashley Lelie will become official Sunday. They will get two draft picks from Washington for their part in the three-way deal in August that also included Atlanta.

Denver will receive Washington's third-round pick in 2007 and a fourth-round pick from the Redskins in 2008. With the Redskins drafting anywhere from No. 3 to No. 10, the Broncos will reach their goal of getting a high third-round pick for Lelie.

Denver was telling potential trading partners all summer it wanted the equivalent of a high third-rounder for Lelie, a former first-round pick. Now the Broncos will get two picks.

The compensation is based on the draft value chart NFL teams use.

The Broncos will finish anywhere from No. 18 to No. 27 in draft order - but could draft No. 31 or No. 32 if they advance to the Super Bowl. The Redskins (5-10) will draft high. So when the draft order is finalized after Sunday's conclusion of the regular season, it will become official that Denver receives the two picks from Washington.

Denver sent Lelie, who was holding out, to Atlanta in the three-way trade. The Redskins got running back T.J. Duckett from Atlanta. Duckett has not been a big producer for the Redskins, playing in nine games this season and carrying 35 times for 136 yards and one touchdown.

The extra third-round pick will give the Broncos ammunition if they want to trade up. It was a high third-round pick that Denver packaged to improve its draft position and select quarterback Jay Cutler in April.

Hootie is to Damon Huard as Reerun_KC is to your daddy...
Which holdout player was Carl supposed to move? Oh that's right...other teams were lining up when Kennison started grumbling last offseason. And that completely ignores all the phone calls they didn't answer asking about Parker.

And it's not a simple matter of offering opinions...it's that you somehow manage to opine how much Peterson sucks in every ****ing post you make, no matter the topic.

Well doesnt he suck? Or are you happy with him?

I could go back to Herm sucks if you would like.

Regardless of who or what player, We havent made many moves recently to warrant any type of return.

Hell we gave a 4th rounder for a coach that was a week from being canned.

Since it was a three-way deal the terms of the draft compensation were not tied to Lelie's performance but to the Redskin's win-loss record this season.

The worse the Skins did the higher the picks Denver gets.
Washington was willing to gamble that they were going to have a solid W-L record this year; they lost. As a result they will surrender a high 3rd and a 4th round draft pick in exchange for TJ Duckett whose stellar production this year was 35 carries for 136 yards and one touchdown.
Seems like a fair deal, no?

Correction ... the Donks don't kick out "bu...." They won by 3 in Denver and we won at home. Since they have won one more game this year it only appears they are far ahead of us.

Now, next year may be a different story if Cutler continues to develop and does not turn into another Crouch (sp? the Brown's QB). But, for now we seem to be about even.

If you want to talk about SD then that is a different story.

I can't wait for Denver to lose to San Francisco and push us into the playoffs instead of them. These ****ing threads will disappear.

Denver rookie QB John Elway, on Jack Lambert, after Lambert and the Steelers knocked Elway out of his first game as a pro (1983).

So call me garbage, but at least I am willing to call you guys out who follow Carl so blindly....

Eat is assclown. You know just as well as I do we wouldnt never take a chance on trading anyone off our roster in a 3-way trade, espically if there is uncertianty on what kind of return we would get.

Good point. San Fran's D really isn't that bad.

Don't get me wrong, this game has a snowball's chance in hell of going the right way, but I like the chances for San Francisco much more than I do Detroit at Shittsburg last year. If Frank Gore gets loose... good could come from this

When was the last time somebody said something positive about Carl Peterson on this board? Before Lamar's death? Before the Cleveland game? Before the season started? If something positive was said, how many people retaliated with DAMMIT CARL statements?

Your problem is you think the fandom of any given Chiefs fan is determined by the amount of hate they have for Carl Peterson. Because you hate him a lot more than us, you think you're superior and always right, to the point that you take someone with honest objective takes like htis and sling shit from your brain around.

We know how you feel about Carl. How about making a positive contribution to this place and make people WANT to read your posts? Hell, Mecca is a great contributor because anything he says sparks conversation. Conversation has already been sparked about the shit you post. Loads of times.

Everyone else is right. You're just a giant waste of oxygen.

First of all, that was a typo. I inadvertently removed the word "spewing" with the insert key.

Second, who said anything about next year.

It's quite simple with you and everyone like you - not constantly telling everybody how much we hate Carl and Herm equals a de facto defense of them. NOBODY here is following anybody blindly, especially not Carl. If you're looking for jack boots in lock step, look on your own two feet.

Your opinion, and your tactic, is bullshit. But you knew that already.
