You should be worried about Rivers

Dude is straight up beasting this year.

He just set the all time record for accuracy in a 400 yard game, and there is only one other QB even close to as good as him statistically this season (Manning, duh). Manning is statistically better in every category, actually he leads the NFL in every important category, but Rivers is right behind him.

I think a lot of you were assuming 2 wins against us this year, but what I've seen from Rivers the last 4 games has me more excited than ever. He's never played this good, and he used to be considered "Elite."

I'll compare Rivers, Manning, and Brees because they seem like the 3 best QBs to compare as of now. Brady is suffering with his shitty receiving corps, or else I'd throw him in here too.

Yards
Manning - 1470 (1st)
Brees - 1434 (2nd)
Rivers - 1199 (7th)

Comp %
Manning - 75.0% (1st)
Rivers - 73.9% (2nd)
Brees - 66.9% (4th)

Touchdowns
Manning - 16 (1st)
Rivers - 11 (2nd)
Brees - 10 (3rd)

Passer Rating
Manning - 138.0 (1st)
Rivers - 118.8 (2nd)
Brees - 103.8 (5th)

Total QBR
Manning - 91.4 (1st)
Rivers - 81.4 (2nd)
Brees - 74.9 (4th)

Interceptions (Starters Only)
Manning - 0 (1st)
Rivers - 2 (T-4th)
Brees - 4 (~T-18th)

Apologies to Aaron Rodgers for not having played 4 games or else I'd use him in comparison too.

I'm not sure anyone was assuming 2 wins against you this year.

I am assuming they'll find a way to flame out brilliantly for the season as a whole in true Chargers fashion.

Yeah but your defense is terrible, just awful. Rivers might be having a good year thus far, but Rivers is Rivers is Rivers .... is Rivers.

Our defense is as garbage as garbage gets, but our offense can consistently put up 30. That will beat plenty of teams.

The only good defense you've faced is Tennessee, and they held you to 17 points. Houstons defense has given up more points than your defense. I like that the AFC West is a legit division again instead of the joke it has been. I think it'll be a split.

Points per game season average below, minus the game vs. the Chiefs so as not to skew things. Scores against KC in parentheses.

Jacksonville - 9.6 (0)
Dallas - 27.6 (16)
Philadelphia - 27.6 (16)
New York - 18 (7)

so basically the Chiefs are holding their opponents two scores below their usual offensive output. I don't doubt that the Chargers can put up points against KC (especially with Rivers' long ball accuracy), but I fully expect them to cap out around 20-25. Chiefs are averaging 25.5, but as we know a good chunk of that has come from defense and special teams scores. Overall that seems to net out in favor of the Chiefs, especially if they can rattle Rivers early and watch him implode.

Point is, Chiefs have made a habit of cutting most offenses off well below their scoring average.

The bold part is a bit confusing... but, if the basis is simply "KC's defense needs to play lights out because KC's offense sputters", then I get it.

I agree, Buck.

And he's doing it with Gates and hot garbage around him.

Yeah, people think he's a douchebag, but he's absolutely carrying the Chargers.

It'll definitely be a tougher game than I would have guessed. I could see a split series, though I think our defense will be tough for Rivers to see anywhere near that level of production.

The thing is we have beaten SD when they had a better team and we actually didn't. I fear no offense with our current defense and DC. BRING'EM ON!

New coach, injuries, etc.

The Chargers can play. No doubt about it.
