Prayers for this little girl fighting for her life
On Monday, my cousin's 12 year old daughter was hit by a car while riding her bike. She is in critical condition and could use your prayers. Thank you.

And no this is not the same girl as Tooge's request. This girl's name is Rylee.

Man, glad to hear she’s doing better but sounds like she’s still got a long road ahead.

Yes, she still has a long road to recovery. But thank God that she is still alive and able to be on that road. It's just a very slow process, it seems. Just a little improvement every day. I guess it's good that she is still young and her body is able to recover.

A little update
They just moved her up to Madonna Rehab Hospital in Lincoln, NE last Friday. She is still getting better, but a long road to recovery. At least she was out of ICU for a few days prior to being moved to Lincoln. So that is all good. Sounds like Madonna is the perfect place to help her with that.

We've had some kids around here involved in terrible accidents do very well in Lincoln. That's the best place for them.

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) -- The 33 year-old driver accused of hitting a 12 year-old girl with her car late last year was going more than 10 miles an hour over the speed limit and texting at the time of the crash, prosecutors told a court on Monday.



Rebecca Horting was charged with Aggravated Battery, Knowingly Causing Great Bodily Harm in November. She is accused of running into Rylee Robinson while the girl rode on the gravel shoulder in the 5200 block of S. Topeka Blvd. on May 6, 2013.


Robinson was seriously injured and racked up more than a half-million dollars in hospital bills, according to a lien filed by Stormont-Vail Hospital. It was filed so the hospital could be sure it could recover some or all of the unpaid medical care Robinson received.


In court, Asst DA Dustin Curry told the judge Horting was going 61mph in a 50 mph zone and was texting while she drove.


Less than two months ago, hundreds gathered at Forbes Field to honor a hero who played a large role in saving a young girls life.


Governor Sam Brownback and countless others were on hand inside the 190th Air Refueling Wing to present the Kansas National Guard Distinguished Service Medal to Staff Sergeant Matthew Crawford.
Crawford was one of the first on the scene May 6th, when then 12 year old Rylee Robinson was struck by a car along 53rd Topeka Boulevard and severely injured.


Crawford provided first aid and a tourniquet to Rylee's bleeding leg.
Looking back at his efforts, Sergeant Crawford says he's not the real hero.
Sgt. Crawford said, "The thanks is enough. I think the award here goes to her and her courage and bravery to wake up every morning and getting better than she was the day before."


Rylee's mother, also said, "In a world where you think things are falling apart, and there is so much crime and hate and negativity, this is one of those times where you realize there is so much good and people are there for each other."
