The Motorcycle Discussion Thread

I figure there are some motorcycle guys/gals on CP, so I thought we could have a place to talk all things Motorcycles.

Tire Mount and Balance Prices (as of 10/29/16)

Prices based on if you remove the wheels yourself and bring the wheels and new tires with you:

Cycle Gear - $35 per wheel if you buy tires from them. $58 per wheel if you buy tires elsewhere
Rawhide - $65 per wheel (assuming it would be the same at other HD dealers. they book it at 1/2 hr per wheel)
C R Cycle Tires (DeSoto) - $30 per wheel

Cheapest I've found my Michelin Commander II's. Seem like they have good prices on other brands too.
http://www.jakewilson.com - Free 3 day shipping on orders over $75

We got your payments where you want them". I about flipped my shit. We worked ipadt that after i explained it does matter and he realized i wasnt gonba be bamboozled.

At the end I said to the sales manager that i will only do the deal if i could have a hoodie i liked from upstairs. He said "done!". I went and got the hoodie and finished the paperwork etc. I shook the hand of the manager of the sales guy, who said "nice choice on the hoodie." When i responded that it was part of the deal, he about flipped his shit this time. Literaly tried to get that reversed. He was irate about the freaking hoodie. Paperwork was already done and the hoodie was actually part of the deal in writing. Im sure some butts got chewed... but jesus to get angry about upgrading from a $20 shirt to a $70 hoodie? gimme a break.

Had i not already have bought the bike and spent half the day there, i would have left over that alone. That place is horrible.

sounds about right. There's so much cheese at Rawhide that realy the only thing I go there for is a quick part here and there, or a few free beers on bike night when I don't have a ton of time to ride, but still want to get out of the house after a rough week at work. And even their bike nights pale in comparison to Worth. lol.

I have noticed, however, that they seem to work a 'little' with guys they see up there all the time on their own bikes. Friend of mine just bought his Ultra there after riding a SG for a few years - always up there, parts, bike nights etc. He was able to get a fair deail, IMO, pretty much right out of the gate. Sucks that it seems that way. Personally, I'd never buy a bike from them again. Aint nobody got time for that.

did a little bit of mock up tonight, have everything in my brain needed to make this work, which includes sending this tank back and getting a similar tank in the 'rubber mount' style as this universal mount just wont fly.

Actually think im going go white with the wheels. But, because they are chrome, and spoked, they will have to be taken apart, media blasted and powder coated to do it right.

That will be a winter project~

To those who have ever stopped in at Slowride Roadhouse in Lawrence, the owner Jesse De Campos (spelling?), was killed in a bike crash late last night. Two guys riding, deer popped out, first guy laid his bike down, and Jesse (following behind) ended up getting tossed off the bike. Deer, of course, was unharmed. ****ING DEER.

I don't even like riding 32hwy (not sure if this is the road where it happened, I'm just saying...) out to Lawrence anymore. Zero escape routes .

What a bummer. Stay safe out there everyone.

Deer!
My biggest fear on the bike anymore.
I always hate hearing news like this. Any idea of the time of day this occurred?

unfortunately, not a very smart time to be riding in the country; i think it happened around 1230 or 130 am. and, if I recall, I never saw him wearing a helmet when we would see him out and about / group rides etc.
...and at that time of night, who knows if he had been drinking.

Yeah, Deer have me freaked out. this year alone I've had 3 seperate occasions where a Deer darted out, or was making his way towards darting out.

I've seriously been contemplating lately selling my SG and moving to dirt riding either via 4 wheeler or dirtbikes. but I know nothing about either, so I dunno. I love riding, but it's just pure chaos out there most days.

That's sad. I was riding US 24 Saturday afternoon/evening going to Legends and then I-70 on the way back just before midnight. I prefer I-70 after dark because there is more traffic and therefore it is less likely that I hit a deer.

Not to tell you what to do or anything but imo, it's better to live than to live scared. I mean sure, I take precautions (helmet/seatbelts) and try to be smart about things.

yep.
dawn and dusk I don't like to be on 2 lane roads in the country, or smaller state highways etc. much prefer interstate at those hours, because at least I have somewhat of an escape route if needed etc.

For sure.

for me it's always been about trying to avoid complacency; knowing the environment I'm about to ride in, what time of day, time of season etc. I try to purposefully remind myself to NOT get complacent. as I'm sure you can relate, it's really easy to if you ride all the time.

sometimes I juts need to check myself / remind myself when I sling a leg over the saddle.
