Official 2012-2013 NBA Thread

Looks like James Harden has been To the Rockets for Jeremey Lamb, Kevin Martin and future picks. Plus... this is a general NBA thread.

different time and a different era, who was Jordan's 2nd place competition through his career in the 90's? Hmm let see, Clyde Drexler and thats it! During Kobe's era, there was, who, Vince Carter, Tracy McGrady,Dwayne Wade, Lebron James, Kevin Durant, Allen Iverson, im sure im missing a few 2-3's in there. Lets also not forget that Kobe's pretty much always had to guard the best guy on th other team when thy were playing top tier teams. Jordan didnt have too, yes, he could, but why tire him out even more when you could have Scottie do it better.

90's are so ****ing over rated. Yes, JOrdan is the greatest, but he didnt have to go up against the level of competition that the game had had for about 10 years now. Now days you got players coming from all over that are really good.

Man.... Kobe sure had his hands full against those great 2s and 3s that were on the Spurs, Blazers, Kings, and Suns in the last decade and a half. Remember him dominating the likes of Rashard Lewis, Keith Van Horn, and a 35-year-old Reggie Miller in the finals? Greatness.

Yawn another Kobe vs Lebron debate...

Listen Lebron currently is the best player in the league and will go down as one of the greatest to play the game and one of my favorite players. He is probably one of the most unselfish superstar to ever play and I love to watch him play except for days like today when he plays my team.

On the flip side Kobe is a scorer and lock down defender but if he wanted to have alot of assists he could evidenced by his 14 dimes. It is not about talent it is about a willingness to do so and he doesn't want to apparently.

One final thing, both MJ and Kobe in their prime and as superstars won 3 World Championships in a row. Lebron will need to match that if he wants to be on their level. He has no excuses now, he formed a super team with 3 players in their prime that are Top 10 guys. Until then it is all moot.

92 to about 98 was one of the worst stretches of basketball. There were some terrible offenses.

The mental part. That is the part where I continue to say LeBron will never come close to touching MJ.

LeBron only has a killer instinct when he chooses to. We can knock on Kobe all we want for not always hitting the big shot. But the fact is, Kobe always wants the ball when it matters. LeBron too often looks mentally overwhelmed to handle the big moments.

I would love Gasol to come to Boston especially if the Celtics get Redick. That would solve their 2 biggest issues, scoring and rebounding. It would be kind of sad to see Pierce go but I don't know if he has it anymore. The last 2 games he had a chance to win both of those and just barely got a shot up and the other night lost the game for the Celts by turning it over twice at the end.

You can't be serious. Clyde Drexler was the only player coming out of the 90's?

And you want to put McGrady and Carter as players that were great?

Get out of here with that noise. The 90's were great because you had a ton of pure basketball players. Not me-first ballhogs who can't play within a system.

Lebron has killer instinct he showed it this post postseason by taking over games and winning them. Game 6 against the Celtics come to mind.

In the huddle before taking this shot, Kyrie asked coach Scott, "Coach, do you want me to tie it or win it?"

The story that hasn't been talked about is that LeBron dominated every playoff game for 3 quarters, but it's wrong to say he took over a lot of 4th quarters. The Heat either built up a big enough lead that LeBron didn't have the pressure to be the guy late in the game, or his supporting cast helped seal the deal.

People forget that game 2 of the Celtics, LeBron was pretty terrible late in the 4th. Same with game 7. He was clumsy late in the 4th in game 2 against OKC. He wasn't overly effective late in game 3. Game 4 was the Mario Chalmers show.

What playoff game did LeBron play last year where he took over the last 5 minutes of the game? Not very many. Something people don't talk about very much.

Ohh and I see that bum Andrew Bogut is still quite a ways away from attempting to come back for the Warriors. In all honesty they should just release him and get it over with.

Kyrie is quietly becoming an absolute superstar. Not only is he playing well throughout, he's been unbelievable in the 4th quarter.

I like the way the Cavs are building the team. They're going to spend a shitload of money on superstars, it's just a question of when. You get Kyrie a supporting cast, and he is going to be absolutely filthy.

before their injuries they were on par with anyone not named Kobe or Jordan. They were really damned good before knee and back problems took over. They were REALLy freaking good.

Who outside of Drexler did jordan gaurd in the 90s" Craig Ehlo, Byron Russel and Dan Marlee (i dont know how to spell is name.

The 2's and 3's in the 90's were bad. It was mostly PF's and Centers in the 90's.

The PURE basketball players in the 90's were not that good, not like it is now and its not even ****ing close. Me basketball was the early 2000's to about 2005-2006. Its changed alot since then. Even Me me playrs like Russel Westbrook are averaging 8-9 assists per game

I knew that was a wasted trade when it happened. They should have found a different deal for Ellis.
