I feel better. Knowshon is currently at 40 and rising. I wasn't going to pay more than that to keep him around when he would only be my RB 2/3.

I think his value is completely overblown.

More than happy to get Gonzalez for $30 and Cotchery for $1.

That's 1,400 yards and 16 TD for $31.

It probably depends on his longevity. If he actually plays for 7 years, then he's only 22 points per year at that price. If Manning retires and he goes back to being the scrub that he has been, then it's a lot for a couple of years of productivity.

Note that I really don't like the Broncos very much, so I cannot write a paragraph about them without insulting them.

That's why I'm steering clear of those bitches. Chris Clark, Knowshon and likely Julius Thomas are all average or below average players although I think Manny Ramirez is pretty good.

I've been throwing down some cash on their defensive players though, which is weird given how bad they've been as a unit.

I have a feeling I'm going to get ****ed on Ramirez. I'm trying to determine a high enough contract where I don't overspend....but the team who owns him doesn't want to match it. I've already lost out on 2 guards so far.

FWIW, he's not going to be a guard in the upcoming Sandbox season.

I actually might like my league 2 team a bit better than my league 1 team. I have a crap ton of talent on defense.

QB isn't as strong, though. Maybe I'll play Cassel all year ironically and see what happens.

I looked at the total money available to all the teams in FA and the current bids on all players at that time. Even assuming that only 70% would be spent, the market was still under financed by a factor of 3. In other words there was a lot of cash out there chasing limited talent. I also projected that prices on players would go way up once people started realizing that the talent pool was shrinking. That situation is now manifest in league 1 where my $72 won't buy a 2nd tier starting guard.

I was also facing a situation where I really wanted one of the top 3 CBs, and there were more than 3 teams chasing those three players. Patty had just out bid me on Chris Harris Jr. and I could see a situation where those corners would slowly be bid up in value until I could no longer afford one of them. Therefore I vowed to get my corner in the next 3 day bidding period thereby avoiding bidding wars. It appeared that Browner had dropped to the third most desirable CB. I liked him over Harris, since the Broncos might play him at nickle all year. Bidding up Sherman was likely draw counter bids. So Browner became my guy. I doubled his bid value making him the highest bid CB on the board. Now, people bidding for a CB would be targeting Sherman and Harris instead of my guy. I felt pretty good that the three day clock would expire before the market caught up with him again.

It turns out that the league 2 market didn't get that aggressive during my 3 day window, and as a result I overbid him a bit -- it looks like a bid of 250 or even less would have been enough. But if you look at the late market in league 2, people are bidding at or near 200 for mediocre FS, LT, and RT. So relative to the late market, I think I got value. I got my man and was able to still address most of the other key needs I had going into FA. I would have liked to get a value player at guard, and I think Phillip Wheeler is an interesting luxury player due to his ability to brink heat from the OLB position. A more accurate bid on Browener would have allowed me to get my guard, but Wheeler was out of my reach regardless. So overall I'm very pleased with my FA acquisitions in league 2. I have a dynasty roster that should allow me to compete for a number of years.

I have no idea how I got Robert Mathis for only 115 in league 1.

However, I was prepared to go all out to get him (my only other real need was a #2 HB), and figured going big $ early might drive some people off with the Julius Thomas sweepstakes coming up.

That post was in year 1 of FA. Prices are way down in year 2 of FA. I think we had too much cash floating around in year 1. But still, 300 Sanddollars pretty much down the drain.
