Seattle fans think they did it...
http://fansided.com/2013/09/16/seatt...-noise-record/
According to the official Facebook page of Volume 12 — the Seattle group attempting to organize Seahawks fans to break the Guinness World Record for noise at an outdoor sporting event — their loud endeavor has been accomplished successfully at CenturyLink Field on Sunday night against the San Francisco 49ers. Not only that, they’ve done it more than once. First word came on the Facebook page that they had registered a roar of 131.9 decibels, breaking the record previously held at a stadium in Istanbul, Turkey and set at a soccer match in 2011. The previous high? 131.76. Well, since the record breaker tonight in Seattle the Volume 12 Facebook page has announced another new high just a few minutes ago at 136.6 decibels. How did they do it, and what was it all about? According to Nick Eaton at the Seattle Post-Intelligencer, “fans will be directed by the stadium’s big screens when an attempt is about to begin, fans will have – at the most – three attempts to break the record, Guinness will have an official ‘adjudicator’ dressed in an official Guinness World Records suit on the sidelines with a Guinness-approved sound meter, and fans should know immediately whether they have broken the record.” Well, they did it. CenturyLink Field is officially louder than a Boeing 747. |
