Off Season Lets Talk Guns

Been a while since we had a guns n' ammo discussion.

Some of you are AR shooters Im sure. Im looking at a Colt 6920. Will be my first AR. Picked up a Glock this fall and really enjoy shooting it. Any feedback on that weapon?

Anyone else been in a buy/sell/trade mood with hardware?

I've got quite a bunch of .22LR hollow points, but I just invested in 500 rounds of .17hmr. I sooooo wanna get a 44 magnum revolver, but I can't justify the expense right now.

Mounted the new scopes on my 22 rifles. The 10/22 has a Nikon Prostaff Rimfire 3-9x40 BDC(plus a new o.d. green Hogue Overmolded stock), and the Marlin 981T has a Leupold VX-1 Rimfire 2-7x28.

I plan on heading to the range Sunday to get them zeroed. But first impressions on both scopes are positive.

Also ordered a Ruger American Rimfire Compact rifle. Its a new bolt-action model that takes 10/22 magazines.

Shooting a .44 is still cheaper than shooting my .500 Smith & Wesson but I hear ya. I'm up to 480 rounds for the 500 at this point which should last me. I must have at least 5000 rounds for the AR's as well. It's going to be a lead slinging summer.

I would guess at least two weeks, but longer if you called them and let you know when you were going to be in? I have gone up to 17-18 days when I was out of town without a problem. On this order I was in the store 15 minutes after I got the email telling me the ammo was in.

It's not a bad idea and saves A LOT of money. If you catch a decent deal on ammo, the shipping can eat your lunch.

Is this a good reflex sight to put on a Ruger 10/22 take down?

No prior expertise in this area. Advice would be appreciated!

Personally I wouldn't. It's the old saying you get what you pay for. Myself I'd get the Nikon scope Munson mentioned on the previous page. I have 2 of these mounted on .22lrs. Solid optics and very good price. If you have your mind set on a red-dot, the only one I have used and could recommend is a Burris Fastfire. You can get one of those for around $200. I'm sure there are other good red-dots out there and you'll see some replies for those.

Great advice.

Test tried putting the Nikon on the take down and it would not fit in carry bag.

I'm in the process of changing out all the junk glass on my 22s & going with the old Redfield wide angle scopes. They can be had on Ebay pretty cheap.
