Movies

Yeah, so I saw a lot of movies this weekend.

Elizabeth: The Golden Age - Mediocre, at best. Slow and dragged on. Shorten it to 2 hours and it's golden. It's not, so it fails.

Michael Clayton - Amazing. Everything about it is awesome. However, it's VERY complex and mind bending. You have to think, so be prepared. I still feel like I'm missing key details of exactly what happened. Gotta see it again.

Across the Universe - Perfect is one word that comes to mind. It just works. And, contrary to many people I bet, the movie is best viewed sober. Trust me.

So I watched an old Eastwood flick on Netflix last night. Eiger Sanction. Good flick, but odd.

Heh, so funny how times have changed. This flick had open gay bashing and blatant sexual harassment. A black female named "Jemimah" and a dog named "Faaagggggggoooootttt". .

Gotta love the 70s.....

Europa Report.

I watched this with no prior knowledge of the movie at all. Had never heard of it, even a preview. And it was ****ing awesome. I have no clue how a movie like this can be released without hearing anything about it. It was incredibly well done.

Yeah, Europa Report looks fantastic, if that review placing it between 2001 and Moon is close to the mark this is going to rule... this is going on the must see list.

Its about time someone did a serious sci-fi movie.

I've seen it before and was channel surfing the other night and caught most of it again.....it's not American Werewolf In London or anything....but if you ever see it on, check out Ginger Snaps. a bizarre take on the whole werewolf thing.

Took the kiddies to watch Monsters University yesterday. Pretty good flick. I don't remember too much about the first one but this one kept us all entertained.

Really enjoyed it.

Left me wanting more though, and I googled my ass off about "Europa" and "Europan aliens" for two hours after the movie.

Ended up reading a bunch of stuff from the 2001: Space Odyssey wiki pages and looking at artist's interpretations of Europan extraterrestrials.

Now I REALLY want them to film 2061 and 3001.

Apparently there's a scene in 2010 where the chinese get ****ed up by a Europan creature...it's never actually shown but...someone made this.

I would like some more. Please.

When it got to the end of the movie, I was really wanting another hour's worth or more. This story definitely deserves a strong sequel or two. Very well done with what looked to be a rather modest budget. We need more scifi like this...

That fan art is pretty awesome....

I was thinking about "The Abyss" by the end of the movie and was hoping they didn't do a hunky dory ending where the lander gets sucked under the ice and they find a huge alien civilization and everyone is OK, the aliens rescued them!

I really like that movie and thought it was pretty funny. It's unconventional for sure.

I just watched this movie called Megan is Missing on Netflix instant streaming for no apparent reason and wish I hadn't. It was legitimately the most disturbing final 30 minutes I've ever seen in a film.

Word to the wise, pass that one up if you're scrolling through looking to pass the time..
