Alex Smith Traded to Chiefs

Well, it looks like the deal is done.

Jay Glazer @JayGlazer
49ers have completed a trade with the Chiefs for Alex Smith, tho can't be official til March 12. Chiefs really made a commitment to Smith

Jay Glazer @JayGlazer
Deal has been agreed upon between Chiefs and 49ers. Compensation unclear but I'm told again Chiefs have made a clear commitment to Smith.

You forgot to mention Manningham who was healthy when Alex was starting.

If Alex Smith had just had 2011, and last year regressed, I'd be right there with the people saying, not another Cassel it Bono. But he was playing even better in 2012, and he wasn't just along for the ride. I think he's turned a corner on his career. He could regress, but I don't see it on this team.

With Manuel out for the season and Geno sucking the big chocolaty penii, I think I can pretty much say I nailed this one.

Manuel is only out for preseason. I liked Manuel a lot and wouldn't have minded him in round 2.

I like Alex a lot better than any QB we had since Trent. He's made some nice throws and some ugh throws. But he'll get there where we can win some games. It's going to take time for the offense to gel and trust each other.

Now a question for the Chiefs fans. If Matt Cassel was benched for Colin Kaepernick, how many of you would still be swinging on Cassel's dick and putting Kaepernick down for leading the Chiefs to the super bowl.

Do you see what we have to put up with from these brain-diseased Alexsexuals? Strike that. You DO know. You see their worshipful posts daily. I'm just underscoring the obvious. How mentally addled would a Chief's fan have to be to have Kaepernick supersede Matt Cassel, then attack the fans who agree with the move?

I can't begin to tell you the mind of an Alexsexual. It is a cult of personality.
Comparing Cassel on the Chiefs to Smith on the 49ers? Lol

Go jump off a bridge. Holding hands with Kaepernick and The Game.

Nice man, you like us being locked into another season where we might win some games (6-8), but the odds of us winning a Superbowl with Alex Smith is slim to none. This is proven by extrapolating from what AS has done over his career, and his talent level. This trade pretty much locked us out of another 3 seasons or so of getting a Luck type Qb high in the draft, a quarterback that could be our starter for 10+ years and take us to the playoffs year in year out. This was sacrificed in the AS trade for a 6-8 (<-- hopefully) win season this year. Way to think long term brah. Congrats!

Also, when you said, "chance to win next year...," did you mean just win more games than 2 or to possibly compete for a championship? Because if you are saying more than 2 then I agree, but competing for a championship is definitely not in the equation unless 15 starting Qb's in the league all get season ending injuries. Because Alex Smith will not get us to a Superbowl, something Geno possibly could do in a few seasons with development. Hell, P. Manning took 8 years before he got to the Superbowl, so don't be so hard on Geno who has yet to play a League game that ****ing matters.

You know things are bad when your fan base thinks it's better to go 2-14 than 8-8 (assuming that's actually the team's ceiling). Really??

You play to win the game. Hello?

The Chiefs front office has put together the best possible team for 2013, and that is all you can ask for as fans. You can't predict what QB will be the next Manning, Luck, etc - and then tank the season for them. That mentality is for losers. I've watched every snap of the Chiefs pre-season games, and you guys have a lot to be hopeful about. Smith is not going to light up the scoreboard with top 5 QB stats, but he'll be efficient, smart, make plays when he needs to, and not turn the ball over. 9-12 wins is entirely possible.

And as we saw last year, even a mediocre QB can get hot and carry his team to a Super Bowl win. Shit, even Eli Manning has done that - TWICE. There is absolutely no reason that a QB like Smith couldn't string together some nice performances in the playoffs and bring a Super Bowl trophy to Kansas City. He did it against the Saints, and save two Kyle Williams fumbles and a BS non-fumble call on Bradshaw, and he'd have been in the Super Bowl too.

Rally around your QB, have some faith, and just be a FAN. If he sucks, then the organization will go a different direction. Or maybe "I told you so" is more important...

Lol, I want the Chiefs to play for Championships, Superbowls, Lombardi's. 8 win seasons to me are like 0 win seasons, it's the, 'if you aren't first, you're last' mentality. But hey man, if you love your mediocrity and are really ****ing stoked about our 43+ year drought with no Superbowl appearances, then keep up your patronage for band-aid fixer upper Qb's and maybe, MAYBE, a 10 win season before we get road stomped by a team with a much better Qb. Welcome to reality of the modern NFL, where the teams that win it all have premiere playmakers at Qb who can throw 35+ td's any given season and can make all the throws. Qb's without limitations, unlike AS.

Yup, I take it you are ok with another 3 years of **GUARANTEED** mediocrity, with no Superbowl game appearances. Enjoy your 8-8. I'm going to wait for Chunt to sack up and do football like the other 10 or so franchises that are contenders year in, year out for the Lombardi.

Nothings guaranteed except there was no qb worth the number one pick. Sorry fake fans but there was no Andrew luck and there's probably not going to be another one for another decade. Only one team can win the sb each year, part of the rules.

Nope again brah, it doesn't have to be Luck type (I know he is a rarity), but it is just the methodology of drafting and developing a starting Qb **FROM SCRATCH**, which is something we haven't done in like 30 ****ing years. But nice try at the misdirect, and I hope you like our most recent 49er castoff Qb. The last two brought us zero championships, I'm sensing a trend is forming...

I don't even know why you are defending yourself here, every post you are making is basically you saying, "yes, I am satisfied with 8 win seasons..." You love your mediocrity, just accept it.

You have no idea what Alex Smith is capable of in this offense. He hasn't played one meaningful snap yet and you've already written the season off as mediocre. Get a grip man. It's a team sport.
