I always saw Hank as a big fish in a small pond. Once he got his promotion in El Paso, he was really out of his element and shocked at his own shortcomings. Not being able to speak spanish in a border town really stuck out to me. Then having his team blown up really gave him perspective to be a better agent.

I had a different impression when I watched it. I thought he wanted to be there to get a job done and the guys in El Paso were acting like school kids to a new student.

If WE can see the police wire, then wouldn't whoever Walt's supposed to be recording surreptitiously see it too? I mean, I thought wires were supposed to be hidden.

As for baby Holly, I think it's been foreshadowed that she survives and is raised by Hank and Marie, given the scenes where they're holding her and saying stuff like, "Oooh, I could just keep you forever!" I've also been wondering if Hank and Marie aren't childless by choice, and this will be a kind of blessing to them.

But then again, it could all be a giant fakeout. I don't take anything for granted in BB.

you have to be careful with foreshadowing in this show. the writers don't even know how it well end yet. for season 4 they had bing, bang as the only idea for how the season would end.
