Alex Smith Traded to Chiefs

Well, it looks like the deal is done.

https://twitter.com/intent/user?scre...w_p=tweetembed

Jay Glazer @JayGlazer
49ers have completed a trade with the Chiefs for Alex Smith, tho can't be official til March 12. Chiefs really made a commitment to Smith

Jay Glazer @JayGlazer
Deal has been agreed upon between Chiefs and 49ers. Compensation unclear but I'm told again Chiefs have made a clear commitment to Smith.

Yes but you forget what team we are talking about here.

"You don't do [X]!"
"There is no reason not to do [X]."
"To be sucessful, you need to do [X] and [X]."

Fill in [X] with anything and the Chiefs will not do whatever you fill in at [X].

Pretty much. If they take Joker, there is no question whatsoever that ditching this franchise is the wise man's move.

I swear The chiefs need Geno to be the pick just to let fans know they are trying and to give us hope. Clark says he doesn't want fans to feel isolated and to restore hope in the fan base and the 12th man again. I think that one pick can completely restore faith or lose it. If Clark and the FO really give 2 shits what fans care about, and actually want a rowdy Arrowhead, they have to give us something to get excited about.

That 1st overall pick ends up being the face of your franchise. Somebody that makes you that much better than the year before and changes the path that got you there.

Restore hope. Draft Geno.

well said, but i wouldnt draft geno. id take a different QB or just tank 13' for next years 1.1. Tank a year for 2 1.1's our team would be loaded with talents.

If you are tanking this year, you are not tanking for a quarterback - you are tanking for Jadeveon Clowney. Which means you needed to draft your quarterback this year.

I swear some of you have no clue about what is out there in college football at all.

Agreed completely. It could all be smoke and mirrors for negotiation leverage.

Von would own most rookie tackles, who would be unfamiliar with him, versus Albert who has seen him a few times.

I wonder if they are targeting Patterson and hoping to grab an extra pick or two in the process?

If they stay at #1 they really really need to draft Geno,

Problem is, i'm convinced there is almost a 0% chance we stay at #1 because they will try to recoop the lost of the draft picks for Alex, even if the compensation isnt great.
