How ironic that SI comes out this week with an article on fans. They had the top fans from all four sports in various categories.

Toughest Fans: Bucs
Loudest Fans: Chiefs
Scariest Fans: Raiders
Most Knowledgeable: Packers
Stupidest Fans: Raiders
Best Groupies: Dolphins
Most Loyal: Packers

Also, there was a quote in the article:

"Those idiots in Kansas City dont know when to shut up. They yell even when the Chiefs have the ball. Thats how stupid they are"

How about that? I thought for a second that I was reading my work on the Chiefs Planet!

I know what some of the "brighter" fans will say on here: "Sports Illustrated doesnt know what they are talking about" Unless its something positive about the Chiefs, it isnt valid.

Just remember that this is the same magazine that picked the Chiefs to finish in fourth place this year. I think they know the Chiefs and their fans as well as I do.

Odd comment, because I have heard stupid announcers comment on how the Chiefs fans were not into the game at points when we had the ball. Not realizing that the Chiefs fans were just being quite while we had the ball.

Morphius,

I doubt it, but maybe this article will lend some credibility about what I have been saying all along: Chiefs have the loudest fans, Packers have the most loyal. Some of the morons on here try to claim Packer fans are as fair weathered as Chief fans. Not even close. SI says that Packer fans are the most knowledgeable too. Many Chief fans dont understand the game inside and out too. I can understand that article because that place has been deafening during all 60 minutes of the game, not just when the opponents have the ball.

Actually a moronic comment like that illustrates why no one like you, Packfan. Apparently you've never attended a Chiefs game, but if you ever get the privilege, you will find that Kansas City fans are among the most knowledgeable fans in the NFL. They build to a mighty roar on defense and keep it quiet when the Chiefs are on offense, serving as the greatest 12th man in all of football.

No disrespect intended to the Packers either. They are indeed a loyal and devoted group of fans, and very knowledgeable as well. I would be content to say that both fan bases are among the premier of the NFL... but then that would be so nice and appropriate; and it wouldn't piss anybody off now would it??

Ken: And how did SI come up with these LOL..."facts?" How exactly does one measure "fan loyalty" for example?

Ken - I have never heard the stadium loud when on offense, except after a huge play and always more quite by the 2nd play. I would say that the writer was misinformed or has heard it maybe once or twice.

Even odder is the fact that a couple of years ago we were labeled as the smartest fans. He must be talking about the boo'ing of Elvis and how stupid that was.

Oh my God! SI says we're idiots. Guess it must be true - they're never wrong about anything. Of course, neither is Packerhead.

Does Ken remind anyone else of Frank Burns, or is it just me?

Packfan,

You are truly amazing, as many times as I have been to Chiefs games over the years, it numbers in the 100s, the crowd is quiet as a Church when the Chiefs are on offense, until the snap is completed then the roar is on. Perhaps it is your stupidity that makes it impossible to realize that the crowd can start screaming once the snap is complete. As to the intellect of the fans on football, how in the hell would some dolt from SI know, did they randomly interview at least 5% of all Kansas City fans (not just those at the game) which would be a representative sampling, did they do the same for every City in the NFL. Most of the categories are possible to evaluate but not that one. As for the most loyal fans in the NFL that is easily the Redskins, not the Chiefs, not the Packers. As much as I hate to admit it the Bronco's fans are probably second. This goes by the only statistic that counts consecutive sellouts. This category numbers in the decades for the Redskins and Broncos. Green Bay has games in many different years since Vince retired that they did not sell out. So once again you have got it wrong, you just brought SI along this time. If you want to talk immunity to bad weather while showing up in great numbers the Bears have the Packers beat as well. The Packers do have good fans, there is no doubt about that, but to call them the best or most loyal is definitely an exaggeration. To call them the most intelligent football fans is just plain impossible to prove or dissprove.

SI also stated there would be a Packer/Chief Superbowl in 98 with Chiefs as the victors. From the looks of all those Superbowl rings on our squad, I guess we should take what they say as gospel. Ken, the individual that wrote that article probably has better than average writing skills and had some connection to enable him to obtain a job with SI. He can still sling his opinion which this clearly is. I'm shocked that "one of the most knowledgeable" fans on this board can't recognize that.....

SI must have also rated Packer stock as a strong "buy". So Kenny went out and bought several hundred shares. What did that stuff close at today, Ken? What is the ticker?

I'll give Ken this - Packers fans are certainly loyal. Anyone who would regularly go to that puke-green, cramped, antiquated shithole to watch ANYTHING must be loyal.

Of course, they could just be really bored, since there's absolutely NOTHING ELSE to do in Green Bay.

And yes, I've been to Green Bay, and been to Lambeau. My high school football stadium was nicer.

What SI calls loyalty I call the total lack of any other remotely interesting option.
