According to Schefter

• More and more, it sounds as if Chiefs quarterback Matt Cassel should be ready for Kansas City's regular-season opener. Cassel does have the strained medial collateral ligament, but when the lights go on, the organization believes he will be there. And you know who else will be there? Tyler Thigpen. Despite speculation the Chiefs could be dealing Thigpen, they will not. Nor does it seem like they ever were willing to do so. Thigpen will be on the Chiefs opening day roster.

This team needs to learn how to win.... you don't learn how to win by accepting defeat in your first game, you go out there with your best players and you work your ass off to try and win the game, that's the whole message Haley and Pioli are trying to put through here is that Hard Work and effort will make you a successful team. i.e. IT COULD HAPPEN ANY GAME ANY TIME.

If the organization is scared about him getting hurt, they should just abandon the QB position and go with the wing T sanpping the ball to the tailback.
