Resistance is futile because 'the government has nukes'

- Leading Democrat warns gun owners

by Caitlin Yilek
| November 16, 2018 05:50 PM

In a Twitter debate about the buy-back of assault weapons Friday, Rep. Eric Swalwell, D-Calif., boasted about the U.S. government having nuclear weapons at its disposal if gun owners went to war against their own country.

It began when a Twitter user claimed Swalwell would spark a war by trying to force gun owners to get rid of assault weapons. Swalwell responded by noting that the government has nuclear weapons.

“So basically @RepSwalwell wants a war,” Joe Biggs tweeted in response to Swalwell proposing a ban on “military-style semiautomatic assault weapons” and forcing owners to sell their weapons or face prosecution.

“Because that’s what you would get,” he continued. “You’re outta your ****ing mind if you think I’ll give up my rights and give the gov all the power.”

Swalwell responded: “And it would be a short war my friend. The government has nukes. Too many of them. But they’re legit. I’m sure if we talked we could find common ground to protect our families and communities.”

Swalwell is considered a possible contender against President Trump in 2020 and has made several visits to early primary voting states in the last year.

I want to see one of these liberals lead by example and give up all armed protection.Take armed protection away from a congressional session and I could accurately predict where the next mass shooting would happen.

Banning weapons will never work, and people who don't know jack shit about guns, probably shouldn't comment on them.

Wonder what would happen if Trump ( the guy that promotes violence with his hate speech) made a comment about nuking citizens?

How many times on this forum has one idiot leftist or another insisted that the Democrats don't want to take people's guns away from them, and only want those mythical 'common sense gun laws'?

They forgot to get Swalwell on board with keeping up the ruse about that bullshit.

I am not advocating for or against the private ownership of nuclear weapons, but I would like to pose a question as food for thought: if private citizens had missile silos in their backyards containing nuclear tipped missiles capable of reaching D.C., would our elected officials put a little more thought into the legislation they passed and signed into law?

Asking for a friend.

The fun thing about LW inconsistency is that Swalwell is actually on point with another LW talking point (albeit a bit more extreme with referencing nukes) in that civilian gun ownership is pointless anyway because the military is superior...

...which in itself contradicts the talking point of "assault weapons" being too dangerous for civilian ownership.

Best policy is don't hurt yourself trying to make sense of it.

ahhh he just wants a ban on semi auto's, then next year it will be anything with a mag, then shotguns when they find out the potential , bolts when they find snipers use them, pump , lever and finally the single shot because of the magic bullet theory. Then when citizens no longer have guns, eric swallowswell will be walking around with armed guards due to being a public official that needs protection.

Kind of like immigration , no wall, but yet has an 8' fence around his house with a locked gate.

make no mistake, eric swallowswell will be a 100% hypocrite

I doubt Swalwell is alone in harboring fantasies about nuking segments of the population.
