At what point did you realize that Mahomes was other-worldly?

For me, it was last year in a preseason game vs the Bungles. Mahomes gets flushed out of the pocket, rolls to his right, and throws a freakin' *curveball* to his receiver between three defenders.

Prior to that play, it never occurred to me that throwing a curveball with a football (let alone throwing a curveball with a baseball) on the run was even within the realm of possibility.

This preseason. His eyes were always downfield. There was a hint of composure in the pocket. He was a “Big 12 QB with poor footwork” but I kept comparing him to a particular 1st overall pick who was a real NFL QB who aced the Wonderlich test who got happy feet and broke from the pocket when someone whispered sweet nothings in his ear. That seemed...refreshing.

As I was celebrating, a light shone through my window. Perplexed, I stepped to the window and looked out. There was a bright football-shaped star shining to the southeast, in the general direction of Texas. At that point, I knew.

Lol at Neil Smith picking up Hostetler by his crotch. That's a penalty + maybe ejection in today's game.

Patrick does some nice things but he doesn't have the wheels Alex has. It's evident why Alex was a number 1 overall pick.

Alex never had the arm nor the balls to go aggressive downfield in a consistent manner so he needed his legs. All take PM2 every time.

I'm pretty sure that at the exact moment that Hasty crossed the goal line, Patrick Mahomes II emerged into the world.

9 months before, the Chiefs beat the Houston Oilers 31-9. Joe Montana threw for 2 TDs and had a passer rating of 112. https://www.pro-football-reference.c...9412180kan.htm

Most Biblical scholars believe Mahomes was conceived on the 25-yard TD completion to Lake Dawson. But some thing it was the 50-yard bomb.

There are a number of posters that have a different opinion from mine that I respect.
But they have intelligence.

You, on the other hand, are about as sharp as a blade of grass.

Honestly, for me, it came from watching the facial expressions of the coaches and personnel who had seen it all.

Reid Giggling. Derrick Johnson getting tongue tied and says he makes throws he's never seen every day in practice.

Veach saying hes the best player hes EVER seen.

And then after he won the Broncos game...I knew it.

This home opener has been in the works for over two decades.

Other-worldly?

Have been optimistic and happy about the fact that we drafted him the entire time. Whichever draftabulator started that “Draft Mahomes” thread and pimped him out initially had me sold that he was the QB I wanted us to draft. I was dead-set against Watson (he’s been way better than I expected at this point) and was “meh, maybe Rich Gannon in time?” about Trubisky. Was “meh” about most of the others...wasn’t down on Davis Webb or Deshone Kizer of all guys (). ****ing hated Peterman. Thought Chad Kelly had some Irish scrappiness in him. Mahomes was far and away my favorite.

I loved how depressed Houston’s war room appeared after they drafted Watson.

Then came the arguments with the random people I work with and the one thing that scared me prior to preseason was the fact that he came from an air raid system and that QB’s in those systems hadn’t yet shown much success at the NFL level. Instilled a little bit of pessimism in me.

Then there was that preseason pass in ‘17 to Demarcus Robinson that hyped the entire sideline up... I thought that pass was incredible and loved the reaction from the fans/players and knew that, at the least, there was elite potential there.

Was 100% convinced he had other-worldly physical tools/arm strength after the preseason bomb to Tyreek. I knew the arm strength hype was for sure at that point.

Was 90% sure convinced he was “other-worldly” after the Chargers game and was hoping that it wasn’t just a case of Tyreek making Mahomes look better. Was hoping for a mutually beneficial type of thing for those two. Loved how he carried himself like an alpha-dog.

Was 99% after the Steelers game after he spread the ball around and didn’t get rattled in a shootout with a future HOF’er on his turf (in fact he looked as if he wanted to keep on bringing it)...at Heinz Field.......and seemed to be critiquing the hell out of the defensive formations presnap and did well with it...and didn’t throw any (gasp) INT’s...and threw 6 TD’s to 5 guys and carried himself like he’d done it a million times. What little skepticism, doubt or apprehension I may have had was alleviated. The 1% of skepticism I had after the game was simply there because we are the Chiefs.

100% convinced that we have something special and all-around other worldly with him after seeing the clip of him yelling at the Pittsburgh sidelines, “you can’t stop me!” along with Andy Reid’s mannerisms during his presser... I got a vibe that he was giddy inside and struggling to contain his excitement when talking about Mahomes’s QB play. Caught a vibe of, “finally, I have a freaking QB.” And this vibe came off from a guy who is known for achieving adequate QB play and getting the most out of the QB’s he’s worked with. It’s like, “sweet, now this guy has a QB that he can simultaneously get the most out of while the QB is able to get the most out of him as well, due to Mahomes appearing to be elite already.” That was the moment where I became 100% convinced. No doubt. Fans of other teams are going to hate the fact that he’s ours and they can’t had him and goodness does that feel good.
