I've been over this a dozen times here. Bowlen needed to build a new stadium and had an agreement with Elway and TD that he would pay them at a later date. If Bowlen wasn't trying to get a new stadium it wouldn't have been an issue.

Quote:
Henderson did not directly address the issue of whether the club gained a competitive advantage but said the Broncos circumvented the cap to help pay for costs related to the construction of Invesco Field at Mile High.

"The investigation resulted in the discovery of undisclosed agreements between the club and Broncos players during the same period [1996-1998] pursuant to which various players agreed to defer certain compensation in exchange for a commitment to pay interest on the deferred amounts," Henderson said in the statement. "These agreements were plainly designed to help the club cope with seasonal cash flow problems exacerbated by the Broncos' need to fund front-end expenditures associated with development of the new stadium in Denver."

The Broncos reportedly were responsible for about $100 million of the approximately $401 million cost of Invesco Field at Mile High, which opened in 2001 and replaced Mile High Stadium as the team's home.

Hell I bet they could put Mallet in the rest of year and still win that division.
The myth that he is a good drafter is the most annoying part of the whole Bellicheat genius myth. He inherited the core of that defense and signed free agents for the missing pieces.

His recent draft record is also rather abysmal. He has drafted two very good tight ends but nothing else, a decent starting corner, two slow middle linebackers who don't play with much discipline, pumping picks into an O-line that couldn't stop the Cardinals defense or Baltimore's.

His recent defense, which is supposedly his forte, has been awful. He plays a very conservative defense which worked when he was aloud to hold receivers past 5 yards but not so much anymore. He plays it with poor athlete's who were other teams dredge.

Bottom line, he inherited a very solid defense, caught lightning in a bottle with Tom Brady, cheated to his superbowl victories. It took him 3 years to win a playoff game since getting outed. The "super" offense he uses has been beaten by the same team in the superbowl twice and they ran the exact same scheme both times, so much for never losing twice. He is a cheating fraud who is carried by Tom Brady nothing else

This 95 Browns thing is such ****ing bullshit.

They act like what happened in New England was because of what started in Cleveland.

No assholes. TOM BRADY.

What's sad is our GM is the one guy that would have watched Tom Brady up close, watched him win, watched him change the fortunes of everyone around him.

Then he saw Matt Cassel up close for years and thought he could win in the same way with him.

Scott Pioli is genious.

Jerod Mayo and Devin McCourty look like good players. Oh and Chandler Jones and Donta Hightower were damn good picks.

So 4 years of trading back picks, leading the league in picks in atleast two of those years and 4 players look good. Jerod Mayo is a good starter nothing special, McCourty looked bad last year and is playing solidly this year jury is still out, and 2 rookies cause you know how a rookie plays the first 4 weeks of the season is how their career is going to look

While Brady is no doubt a huge part of NE's success... Belichick deserves credit for putting him in there. Its easy to say now but he left Brady in over a 1st overall $100 million QB. A lot of coaches wouldn't have done that... especially after Bledsoe won the AFC championship. I know most of the armchair GMs here wouldn't have done it. Not for a 6th round guy.

He'd call you a dumbass because until Hoodie benched the 1st round franchise QB there was no Lombardi...

Denver rookie QB John Elway, on Jack Lambert, after Lambert and the Steelers knocked Elway out of his first game as a pro (1983).

The biggest sack of shit in that piece of was Belichick talking about how he wanted to build this awesome blue collar football team in Cleveland.

Oh yeah, man. That was definitely gonna get you to a Super Bowl in an AFC with Elway's Broncos, Kelly's Bills, Montana's Chiefs, Marino's Dolphins, and so on and so forth.

Let's see. who played in the AFC Championship from 91-95?

Elway, Kelly
Marino, Kelly
Montana, Kelly
Humphries, O'Donnell
Harbaugh, O'Donnell

Maybe you could have beaten the O'Donnell Steelers...or wait, no, you couldn't have, because you got your ****ing asses kicked against them in the '94 playoffs, 29-9.

****ing frauds couldn't even compete with a superior version of the blue collar bullshit model (which lost, in the end, anyway).

****ing self-important tree of Brown shit can **** off.

So most of Pioli's "friends" have not completely ****ed him on trades.

And the reason he appears to have worked these deals out is his relationship with the Coaches/GM's he's dealt with?

So he's the guy you keep around because it's fun to shave his eyebrows when he passes out first?...
