*.* 2013 General Fitness Thread *.*

Welcome to 2013! Now get your ass in top physical condition!

**From the 2012 Thread**

If you want to get back into lifting, or need a new lifting routine, START HERE:

http://startingstrength.wikia.com/wi...inner_Programs

If you have questions about the SS programs, look here:

http://startingstrength.wikia.com/wiki/FAQ

Keep in mind that you're a novice lifter for a longer period of time than you think you are. Novice lifting can last anywhere from a few months to a year or two, depending on how hard you hit the weights and where you started.

Once you've reached the point where you don't make regular progress on the SS program, you are ready to move on to the intermediate stage, which can last you for a good number of years. Find it HERE:

http://madcow.hostzi.com/5x5_Program/Linear_5x5.htm

If you're a very advanced lifter (many, many years of CONSISTENT weight training), then there are lot of programs out there, and which one you pick is simply a matter of preference. If you're really that advanced, you should know what works for you and what doesn't by this point.

A real man would put 265 up 20 times without issues on a 16 day fast.

I have no issues admitting I am a wimp.
I am 160 lbs. Bench 250 without a spotter, dead and squat over 300 with two bulging discs in my lower back, leg press 750, Strict press 165 with two separated AC joints and tears in both RC's .

My body is breaking apart from all the years of abuse. Lucky I am still walking.

Here's my first day review.

Woke up at 8 AM and walked 2 miles. Est. 150 calories burned.

Ran 5.38 kil this afternoon, so roughly 3.3 miles. Approx 367 calories burned.

Will be going to the gym to do cardio workouts tonight.

15 lb dumbells-10 reps 3x (back on bench. Bench press the weights)
Another 10 reps of basic pull ups 3x
Various ab machine workout.

Est. 200 calories burned

Added on miscelaneous calories (aka sleeping, walking around, existing, etc) and it's about2,000 calories.

I think I will burn around 2,700 calories today.

Correct me if I'm wrong here

So 2200 calories burned when you factor in what you ate.

You should be drinking a lot more water.

How much should I drink?

And if I'm losing water weight, is it harder for me to lose said water weight by consuming so much water?

If you know you wanted to lose weight, why didn't you start to exercise and diet sooner than 16 days before?

I doubt you are even close to that on the calories burned. People always overestimate burned and underestimate eaten.

No. That's not why you retain water. That has more to do with carb intake and salt intake.
