Don't believe there's a dedicated thread, and since they're starting to release information now, I figure it's time for one.

Finally this week, we took down Soa and only had to deal with a few bugs. Also, last night we one shotted Karagga's on hard mode. So now we are 10/10 8 man HM's.

By far, the hardest fight in KP on HM is the first boss, the Rancor thing. Biggest pain in the butt. After that it's just easy mode.

Grats guys, that's huge. I read a bunch about HM Soa and apparently a lot of it is fight. You have to get lucky with the way the lightning balls come out and who gets mind trapped when. It's still pretty technical, though, in terms of how quickly everyone responds to the balls.

We handle the lightning balls by having the two people run in the direction that the balls spawn (they pretty much always spawn at the same point), one goes to the the right and one to the left. When you see your ball following you, make sure it's not around anyone else, and then run right into it. This way no AE damage on anyone else.

Also we found that if the whole raid sits in the middle circle with Soa, its a lot easier to heal with AE heals. Then you have your ranged dps do the mind traps while melee stays on Soa. This all being phase 3 of course.

Phase 5 is not as strict on placement, just make sure that who ever gets called for the lightning balls goes to the balls no matter what, unless its the tank, then well, try not to get ****ed too hard.

Does anyone have any advice on keeping geared up? I was beating mobs just fine with T7 tanking. Then I got to Alderaan, and all of a sudden mobs seem to be beating us up a lot more. Regular mobs are fine, but "Strong" mobs are knocking T7 down to about 25% health before I am able to finish it off.

I've tried going to the AH to find upgrades for T7, but there's hardly ever anything available for droids. And most of the mods seem to be for Willpower or Cunning.

Any tips? As you level, what do you keep an eye to make sure that you're in line gear-wise?

So my buddy and guildy created this drinking game. All credit goes to CapnJammo. You can find the link on Reddit right here. This is going to be awesome. We will probably be doing this a week from tomorrow.

Quote:
I created this drinking game in an attempt to hold guild interest until 1.2 comes out. Everyone is pretty burned out on the current content. Haven't had a chance to playtest this yet, but if all goes well, taking down Soa should provide an entertaining challenge.

If anyone has any ideas for rules to change/add, let me know.

Operations Drinking Game: Eternity Vault

Basic rules
• All drinks must be consumed immediately and completed before resuming control of your character.

• In the event of any ties, all tied players are considered losers and must drink.

Taking out the trash
• A player is randomly assigned (e.g. /roll 1d8) as ‘Leeroy’. If that player dies from trash, everyone else takes a drink. Leeroy may not pull bosses or more than 3 groups at a time. Suicides don’t count. Leeroy then changes to another randomly assigned person.

• Anytime Soa taunts, take a small drink

Bosses
• If you die during a boss fight, take a big drink

• During boss looting, all loot is assigned randomly. For each item you win, take a drink.

Annihilation Droid – Getting too close for comfort
• Group 1 is on left turret. Group 2 is on right. Last to kill drinks.

• Everyone stands inside the bosses targeting circle. If you step out or are knocked out of the circle, take a drink

Gharj - Dance frenzy

• Whenever Gharj frenzies, everyone dances. Last person to dance takes a drink.

• Anytime you touch lava, take a drink (this includes when moving to new platforms).

Pylons – Lots of yelling
• Split into 2 groups; Both groups stand at the chest until leader says go

• Pylons can’t be pre-solved or looked at ahead of time

• Players must take turns pressing the buttons using the order they are within the group. Anyone going out of order takes a drink.

• For each column, the last group to solve takes a drink

• You may not press another group’s buttons, but any other attempts at subterfuge and sabotage are allowed.

Council – Even in a drinking game this fight is boring

•Last person to kill their target finishes their drink. Helping/interfering with others is allowed.

Soa – Touching other’s balls is encouraged
• If your lightning ball touches anyone else, take a drink for everyone it touches

• If you get thrown up in the air or in a mind trap, slowly drink until you are free

• If you die from falling, take three drinks instead of one

• If a wipe/reset occurs because of a bug, everyone must say [insert phrase of your choice] in general chat. Last person to do so takes a drink.

My post was supposed to say that a lot of Soa is RNG, not "fight" lol. But yeah, I think the hardest part is making sure everyone knows what to do when their name is called on the screen. Thanks for the good tips, I will pass them on.

When I leveled, I would make sure to do every quest on each planet and sometimes ended up doing heroics multiple times (pretty much whenever anyone did LFG X Heroic, I would say I'd go). I also ran through every FP at least once while leveling. As a result, I was always ahead of my content by like 3-5 levels and it just made leveling so much easier.

As far as gear goes, the only real thing for a Sentinel to worry about are the hilts. You should have blue quality hilts on your sabers that are within 1 level of you (there's a new one available every 2 levels starting at level 7 and going all the way to level 49) at all times.

The way to get them is to craft the green hilts using Artifice and then R/E them until you learn the blue schematics. I have them all unlocked, so I can make them for you depending on the mats available to me at the time. Feel free to hit me up whenever you want.

Oh yeah, totally agree with the RNG then. Add that to the RNG of what bug and how many times you'll see it and it's just an awesome fight.

Yeah, I do as many quests as I can. In fact, I'm still about about 2-3 levels ahead of the mobs I'm fighting. I'm not totally getting my ass kicked or anything, it just seems like I have a lot more down time while I have to heal between almost every fight.

Thanks for the tips. I'll take a look at the hilts I currently have and hit you up if I need upgrades. I also need to look into my rotation and see if there's anything I'm doing wrong there (or not using).

If you're not, make sure you're using your planetary commendations to buy mods for your orange gear. As you finish one planet, you should have enough to gear up for the next planet.

I found for me that things sped up exponentially when I dropped the droid for Kira. I use her the same way I used him, to draw initial aggro, but when she goes in she's basically a buzzsaw. Things die very quickly. Being watchman and using zen helps as well. Keep in mind that if she gets very hurt, you don't have to heal her up (at least not right now). You can simply dismiss and resummon.

I'm actually the other end of the spectrum in terms of completionist with my knight. I only do the planetary series and my class quests on any given planet, skip the side quests (i've already done them all on other characters) and heroics (I almost never group), only (occasionally) do space combat, although that's a very large amount of xp when you hit a level with new missions. I really don't worry about my gear at all aside from hilts. Everything I fight is on-level, and I haven't found anything to be all that challenging unless I'm on a key class mission. That's really the only time I have to be on my toes, and basically the only time I ever pull doc (the healer) out. Kira's not always real good for fighting elites and champions.

Just my perspective. I realize it's not the norm as far as knights and sentinels go.
